Landing Gear
Hardware usually attached to the bottom of the fuselage or wing that is used to support the aircraft during takeoff, landing or any other time the aircraft is on the ground. Music wire is a common material used to build fixed (non-retracting) landing gear. Landing gear may also be built to retract when in flight to increase the aesthetics and speed of a model such as on jets.

Lateral Balance
This is the point in which a Plane balances neutral when it weighs equal amounts on both sides of the Aircraft with the wings attatched. A Plane that does not have the correct Lateral Balance will drop a wingtip towards the heavier side. To achieve a correct Lateral Balance, weight may have to be added to the wingtip of the lightest side to achieve a correct neutral lateral balance.

LCG
Low Center of Gravity is a term that is used to describe the level of a car or trucks tip over ratio or level to the ground. For racers the need to get the best LCG out of their car will help them on the track. One of the best ways to do this it to lower the motor, or replace the chassis plates on your car or truck. Lowering your center of gravity makes for faster lap times around the track. And also helps to prevent your car from rolling over as you turn.

Lift
This is the force that a wing, rotor, propeller or similar surface creates from wind passing over it. The physics behind lift are complicated, but can be generally described as resulting from pressure differences below and above the lifting surface (more pressure below creates lift). Pressure differences result from the "action/reaction" force of wind being deflected over the surface and in small part from the Bernouli principal which holds that the shape of the surface contributes to pressure differentials.

Lomcevac
Aerobatic manuver thought to have originated in the Czech Republic (Lomcevac is Czech for "headache"), where for a moment the airplane's tail moves to the front of the path of motion of the model, usually resulting in an inverted flat spin. The key to this manouver is to gain momentum by transitioning form a positive G manuver to a negative one.

LSN
Low speed needle. This needle found on nitro engines controls the idle and just off idle air/fuel mixture. In vehicles, proper adjustment of this needle will allow a consistent idle as well as immediate and explosive acceleration. Adjustment of this needle should be done after the high speed needle is properly set.
