My name is Dave and I live in Northwest Indiana. I am 45 years old and work as a machinist moldmaker building plastic injection molds in a small shop and enjoy the trade.
I grew up in a family of stock outboard racers in the A and B class hydroplanes, and traveled around most of my summers to races. I owned a 1965 Sid-Craft and used a Mercury KG-7 in "stock" form.
I also have enjoyed dirt bikes, snowmobiles and downhill and water skiing.
I started building at a young age with rubber powered balsa kits, plastic kits and such, and progressed to building and flying control line flying, then up to 2 meter sailplanes, then glow power. I now own a Sig 1/6 scale Citabria and also involved in building a vintage Berkeley Models 1/2A ducted fan Skyray.
I have always built boats as a hobby. My first boat was a Dumas Ace Racing Sloop free-sailer, then an 18" Atlas Van Lines hydroplane that used a Cox .049 engine and was a free-runner.
I have now ten boats to my fleet. Some are built, others still in kit form. I am currently working on a Dumas Eagle Sport 40 hydroplane with an OPS 45 motor.
Speaking of motors I enjoy rebuilding and dressing them out to look nice. Brands include Moki, K&B, OPS and Webra. The Webra's are one of my favorites, as they use the Dynamix carb which I think is an awesome design and like the mechanics of it. Very strong running engines also for being just an alcohol motor.
I will try and keep my blog updated with my builds, along with my threads but you can take a look at my photobucket album for pictures of the motors I have gone through and worked on.
