New heli body
The new Agusta 109 body is on the T-Rex now and I'm ready to start trying to trim it out and get it flying again.  I did some test flights in the garage but it was with nearly dead batteries and the rotor speed just wasn't up where it should be.  I'm hoping that's why the bastige was uncontrollable anyway.

It takes skill...
It takes some doing, but I've managed now to crash my Slow Stick TWICE.  First time it was overjuicing the ESC and watching it burn full throttle uncontrolled into a tree.  This time it was plain wind that did it in.  I just can't fly except on calm days.  The Tigermoth never saw it so bad, and the T-Rex now has a more spotless flight record (knock on wood).

I cannot resist peer pressure.
I couldn't let my friends buy something at the show this weekend without buying something myself, so now I have Tamiya XB Pro Nismo R34 GT-R.  I always liked Skylines.
It must be almost 20 years now since I started lusting after Tamiyas like the Hornet and Falcon, and now I have one of their road racers.  The working headlights are a cool gimmick, I think they're more effective than my old Intrepid's headlights were.

I'm regressing
I went stupid for a few minutes and bought an Axe EZ, JFSAG.
Holy hell that thing's easy to fly, I think my parents' dog could have flown it, but it can't hold it's own outdoors even in the slightest breeze.  It might be fun for someone without the talent or patience to try a proper helicopter but I don't think you'd learn much from it if your aim was to use it as a stepping stone to bigger better whirlygigs.

Smash!
Well the other shoe dropped.  This weekend at a fun-fly I managed to smash the T-Rex into the ground and obliterate the rotor head assembly.  Luckily so far it seems that's all that as destroyed, and the LHS gave me a reasonable price on the replacement parts from an already cannibalised kit.
The main hub (whatever you want to call the part the main rotor spindle passes through) was snapped in half, the blade grips were both smashed, and 4 mixing arms were destroyed in the process and the upper and lower sections (inner and outer) of the swashplate came clean apart.
I don't remember exactly what happenned, but I remember putting my collective up and pitching way back and the helicopter just dropping to the ground while it rolled left.  The swash  plate came completely apart, and while pilot error is the most likely cause of the crash I have my suspicions from the condition of the swash, if it had come apart while in flight that would have explained all the behaviour I saw.  Guess this time I'll build it with an alimunim swash plate just in case.

Back in the air
A week later and she's in the air again, behaving as well or better than before.
