While not an official member of the "crew", I feel a certain nitro-psycho-induced bond with them although I live cross the border way up here in VA. I"m sitll around, just been fighting some illness so I haven't flown much at all. Nice to see you're still kicken' Ray! Vic, haven't emailed you lately, blame me- emails work both ways I know.

Yes, Tangerine I believe you came to one of Rog's events, dincha? I have fond memories of my Virginia days in Christiansburg and later in Stafford (sigh).
But then we moved to North Carolina and found the "Crew". Good times, good times. Thinking back I have to humbly admit that my old Sheetface with just a TD .020 up front would easily humiliate any of the Reedies that I remember from those days. You were probably among those silly people who thought they could outrun me. (Diabolical laughter). Good times, good times.

Don't start Old Man!!![>:]
TJ, I have been waiting three days for you to pop in. Good to see you are still around.
Just a little personal history of my connection to the CC. I started out as mainly a lurker since my small ones at the time were GWS lekkie powered. The first Reedie Race was what I needed to get me on track and a purchase from KC Hobbies of a Black Widow powered plank got me in the game. After that first race, which Raul did not win, I was hooked on racing planes.
Patrick Ulmer, who I hope to see pop in here too, sent me a few of his designs and a kit which got me building these little guys. A few more Reedie Races and a whole bunch more kits later the opportunity to race a different class was brought to my attention. I got involved in racing HOB .25 size T-6s then Quickie 25 and Club 40. Surprisingly all of these larger class planes were still about the same speed as my last reedie plane, Bob Harris's QuickShot, and powered by that same original Black Widow.
When Rog caught up with Bob and I last week we were at a Gold Cup NMPRA race. These are the ones that draw the big boys from all over the country. Electric Delta, Bob and I have been playing in this game for three years now with planes that are more than double the speed of the reedie jobs and doing pretty well...at least Electric Delta is anyway.
The point of all this is, getting to play with you guys in the CC has led me into a great big world of racing that I really enjoy. It all started here. You guys are great!

I'm not part of the CC either, but it's nice to see familiar names popping up in forum. It's been pretty lean here with very few of the old regulars posting anymore. Glad to see you guys are still out and about.

I also have "the hat". Mine has traveled somewhat and has autographs from "crew" all over the world. I haven't seen it in a while but I'll make sure it comes with me the next time we get together.
Alas, my bride of 48 years and I have a trip scheduled during Vic's club's swap meet - but never fear, youse-all won't be able to avoid me forever.

Al, Great to hear from you! That was a great time back in2007 when we met at the McDonalds. Still have the .010 P-51 short kit... Would love to have one in my squadron.
Andrew and Nathan really enjoy flying r/c models. We have been talking in the past few days, thanks to Roger, about pylon models to build.
Both of them would have a blast trying their hand at it.
Raymond - great to see you are around as well. Are you going to the Winston swap this year (Nov 1st)? Maybe we can see you there.
Lots of great memories with the 1/2A Carolina Crew.

Brian,
What kind of racers are you building for the boys?
There is talk of an EF-1 race next fall in Jullian. I'll most likely make a trip over there around the holidays for some practice time. I'll let you know if you are interested.

Brian,
Wow dude! With you on board it's like we're almost complete - Carolina 1/2A Crew-wise that is. I may have missed it but is Tim here yet?
Alas, I must forgo the Nov swap meet as I am taking this hot babe on a trip into the woods to commune with nature - or my wife and I are gonna hang out in a time-share.

Brian, I was getting ready to say something nice about you - but I "see" that your true colors have shown through. And I was going to tell you that I still have the Sharkface you gave me and that I was going to electrify it and fly it every day as a tribute to your generosity and inherent kindness. Hah, fat change now FireDude!
