Small Biplane Kits or Plans
Does anyone know of a 1/2 A Pitts biplane kit or plans with a span of approx 22 to 24 inches? I have seen a Royal Pitts but it has a 30 inch span. I would prefer it to be a bit smaller so I can use one of my TD .020's on it.

If you can find plans, the Goldberg .60 sized Ultimate Bipe scales down to 24 inches and makes a nice flyer with a Norvel .074. You'll need to rethink the construction details to keep it light, but the basic layout works really well.
I used 1/16" diameter bamboo skewers for the cabane struts and a real long drill bit to drill the holes between both wings in 1 shot while the plane sat in a jig. The actual drilling and skewering was real easy after just a little time was spent to temporarily hold the wings and fuselage in place.

If it's a Pitts you want then get a Herr Pitts Special in the FF section at Sig. It's 24 inches and much more scale than the one meant for RC, which is 30 inches anyway.
Lots of people convert these to electric RC, but I'm sure it would suit a TD 020 extremely well with the proper mods.

This place has oodles and a few F/F Bipes that are meant for rubber and in the 24" range. Pee Wee or TD should fly them when beefed up in strategic areas.

Hi Scaliwag,
I'm currently building a 25 1/2" span Sopwith Swallow for FF, it's a Bill Denis design,one
of our UK greats. Bills solution to your problem was to build wing cabin struts and a
section of top deck of fuselage all in one piece, which would, hopefully, knock off in a free flight arrival.
I probably got plan from Outerzone so it might be worth your time to do a search for it to see his neat solution.
The Sopwith Swallow is a parasol wing rather than a biplane of course.

It might not look elegant, but use nylon screws that pass completely through the top wing and thread right into the framework that is below the wing. Balsa N struts with hardwood blocks mounted tight against the bottom of the top wing could be shaped to look not too ugly and thread the hardwood for #8-32 screws.

Yeah you're right, even me. I know I read too fast, and I read it as "looking for a biplane for a TD .020"..
Potential convert?

Wasn't there an Andrew on the west coast who had a web site with Bipe plans. He also had the PDF tile program. Can't recall his site name.
Also hosted the 1/2a design contest results for several years.
Found it. Andrew Donatelli
donatelli.net
Later: Plans seem to have disappeared from his site.
