I have some K&S metric stock so will see if they have 8mm ID thick walled 9 OD or can use 5/16th lap it out a hair 7.9375 mm- at my local store Fri.
I will take in the modified cylinder to the store and match it to anything I can source lol.
Note you can buy rod reset tools for .010 to .09 brand new as they still make them. I have tapped in a .010 and many 1/2A's over the years.
I have never reset my any of my 09's they scream with APC 6x2 pylon props and QB spinner matches the prop hub size of engine very well spinners you can still buy new. Note I use a over sized pressure tap this may be helping run better than normal. Makes a 28in span pylon plane spank the sky.
I have ran a Medallion .15 on season on 25% It never needed resetting.
Back in the day I would fly thirsty 40 to 120 size engines the planes and all the gear eat up room took longer to build.
So these days I have been enjoying smaller engines takes up less room and time to build them, not to mention a gallon last a long time!

You could just make a piece of tubing with a lathe. It may be hard to find just the right size. I found the sizes vary a bit from nominal with the K&S stuff. You may need to find someone with a lathe and a really small boring bar.

Well I went to the hobby store today and bingo got lucky they had thick walled K&S 10mm OD x 8mm ID. I over cut the throttle barrel about a half mm and filed down a tad at a time to get a perfect fit. Using a small file I cut in the exhaust ports to mimic a typical cox throttle sleeve put pushed the openings to match the cylinder exhaust ports if you match you won't be able to close off the ports completely. if you want to shut it down you can only match the spaces between the cylinder ports. Next step is to source a clip or fabricate one for a control arm here's a pic of the last hours efforts.

Der throttle she is now complete I cut a groove in the lower section of the sleeve and rapped some piano wire around a smaller dia tube then slipped it into the groove so it won't migrate up or down when the engines running this method has done the trick and so now I can move on to mounting the elevator and throttle servo then seal up the fuselage with the last two pieces of wood. After that wing and tail feathers. I bought some high gloss Top Flite fuel proof luster kote for the fuselage as I want to enjoy the natural wood grain. Also may add some scale detail in the way of a open cockpit or bubble canopy not sure yet.

Elevator and Throttle servo in and finally the first section of the thin stuff in place next hatch up front. Then I must choose carbon rod for if rubber bands to hold the wing or rear nylon bolt plate and carbon rod in the wings leading edge. If rubber bands then will need rear hatch over the elevator servo. The rear shot showing the fuselage foot print. Landing gear looks a tad leggy but once the low wing is in place should be reasonble. Also made them long enough to suit a TD .20.

I remember when that basic outline was first introduced to the foam combat plane flyers / builders by a guy named Steve Hills. Not only did his planes seem to be the best flyers that day, but the rounded LE near the tips made them seem to survive crashes better, too.
His design also made using arrow shafts or kite rods popular for the main fuselage / boom stick.

Hey CP I checked out a few of his designs light with strong shock absorbing components.
I have finished cutting out the wing and sanding in the airfoil.
The weight started out at 27.9g and ended at 22.5g so dropped 5.4g worth of dust. 20in span.
I fudged on the wing and doodled in the ailerons to see how it looks.. here's a pic.

Ok wing is done and fitted just need some covering on it and a servo mounted.
I have used .4mm or 1/64th ply sheet in the center to protect the balsa and for saddle strips on the fuselage seating the wing center / level. The entire area is solid and strong in case of a crash the rubber bands won't rip out chunks of balsa. Carbon rod was used for retaining the rubber bands strong and light along with very little space taken up inside the fuselage.

Im at 3.8oz as shown, I predict 5.3oz ready to fly.
With a 20in wing span this one should float in on landings and putt putt about on 1/3rd throttle yet able to yank and bank hard making over 30k rpm with the redesigned prop.
You can buy round wood balls at the arts n craft stores I have a few of these for pilots on simple planes they are pre drilled out ready for some bling to flop about and help with orientation.

Updates:
I have fueled proofed the fuselage and will leave it glossy for wood appreciation.
Tail feathers glued on with the horizontal stab and elevator hooked up to the servo. Riding the fence on what color the vertical stab will be it has been fuel proofed in case I go with red checkerboard pattern on both sides.
The wing is getting monokoted next to match the white horizontal stab.
Will be going with racing number on the wing and underside checkerboard pattern of some sort.
Size ref holding the plane in pic two puts things into perspective.

I really like the way it turned out..! The natural wood grain and open cockpit make it look like an early monoplane with the swoopy wing.
Hopefully the throttle gives you what you want for landings with no additional fiddling.
I've heard that 5 ozs is a good weight for sporty .010 performance and I'll bet this plane looks like a Formula One in the air. Guys who have rigged the ram air tank vent say that they make a big difference with how the engine behaves.

I may go with a black shaped sticker for the cockpit and leave it smooth to keep drag down and speed up - every lil bit is going to count with only the .010 to work with. The weight is shaping up I should be about 4-6 grams over 5oz wet. I went with pylon racing proportions to avoid scrubbing off speed in the turns. The airfoil is a tad under 3/16th at the center tapers out and down from there. I have covered the wing. All hinges are through the monokote process integrated while covering to make transitions slick within reasonable efforts. No fillets the saddle did get some wing seating strips and small fillet was induced tail is long and lanky this will sit solid in the air with very little throw needed to motivate and hold trim. So far the CG is staying put the RX will have some movement to dial it in if need be.

I grabbed the last servo for the wing and rx put the lot on the scale I'm at 4.85 oz looks like this one could be at sub 5oz less fuel.
I do have two control horns and to bits of piano wire to the horns and a piano wire tail skid its going to be close.
My rx is a 2.4g full range micro comes in at 4.3g

Thank you CP I will dial in the engine throttle this week and mount the aileron servo one front hatch for the battery / fuel tank bay. And bling out with some numbering I'm actually done. I had started this project 15 days ago just here there till finally done I would guess 7 to 10 hrs of actual work from design doodles to what you see now.
I have been wanting to buy a head cam mount as I will be doing a maiden soon was going to use an existing HD camera small clipped to a hat just start up and hope its running and aimed still per the set up at the house lol. Well there is finally something worth buying that gives you true HD with zoom and you can monitor, heres the scoop:
I found and bought this on ebay Sunday for self filming allows you to monitor the head mounted cam with your cell phone in real time via wifi so you can insure you have the camera aiming in eye sight view. Also allows you to start stop etc with the cell or by a remote that comes with it. The camera is 5 megapixels with 4x zoom HD 2hrs recording comes with a battery and has a 50 meter underwater depth will record with sound. Amazing tech for around 100 bucks and follows a moving plane perfect to save in history your efforts.

I shopped around a little bit for a new camera but came away thinking that $300 would be the very least that it would take to get something decent.
I'm glad you found this one. Hopefully it does a good job. My camera is bulky and the threaded insert that attaches it to the hard hat is beginning to rip out.
I got it 2nd hand for $100 but it cost close to $900 11 years ago. The microphone is barely adequate to work with Waveoscope, but a separate external mike jack is provided.
Your Pond racer looks like it will take longer than 7 hours to complete..more like 700...!
I've toyed with .049 to .074 sized twins. The most successful ones are sized big enough with enough rudder leverage to handle an engine outage.....giving me enough time to respond and enough rudder to continue flying with one engine.
The unsuccessful ones were over powered, just too small for the amount of thrust on tap and not enough rudder. From now on my multiplier for sizing twins will be bumped up a notch if I ever do another one..

Yes I have a small HD camera too but wanted the upgrade with the wifi feature. This isnt a pond racer type rather a single engine vintage look say mid 1930's look.
The only way I would do a twin these day would be with electric hand wound matched outrunners 3S 3,400kv.

My new headcam came in today so will sort out how to use it and test it with this plane
The one I received can do 1080 dpi 8mp at 60fps for up to 2hrs with the supplied lipo type battery. Does wifi to your phone or laptop to help monitor setup the live feed. Zoom 4x $93.99 shipped. Does come with a remote and water proof case once you happy with the set up and don't want to monitor the feed.
Looks good and recomendable will know for sure once I test it.

Yes it has wifi to any phone, pc or tablet. It will also connect via usb to any device and act like a webcam to help you set up the head band for the first time in the field or at home. It has locking adjustments on the head strap's cam mount for up/down and left / right once you lock it in as long as you park the cam on the same spot in my case will be on the forehead you will get a fixed wide 120 degree angle. For RC use this will follow your point of view as long as you move your head with eyes looking forward - no way you can mess this up once dialed in. The provided hand remote will allow you to take photo's on the fly or start stop the video record so you don't need the optional wifi in the field. The video cam has 1G of memory built in and a slot for up to 32G external micro SD mem card.
The 3 reasons for me buying this camera rather than use my existing HD mini cam was for the live feed via wifi, start stop remotely and even smaller camera then my slim HD mini. Half the size and 68g weight.
I have tested the wifi with just the factory charge the video is clear and quick in real time I'm giving it a full charge now comes with a 1000mah lipo for 2hr recording time. I will post a test vid to show what the camera can do sound / picture wise and how the TD .010 aluminum throttle sleeve idles down and ramps up the lil screamer.
