Hacker Funny bipe
I passed this by at the LHS for years as it was part of a collection of less common and grossly overpriced kits with fading labels that seemed destined to disintegrate where they sat. I giuess my buddy talked them down to a fair price, as he showed up at my door with it as a "get well faster so we can go flying" gift. Hooray! Half finished it today, including mounting the NV .074 and cutting muffler clearance in the cowl. The box art shows a Babe Bee, so the .074 ought to be enough power for some R/E/T giggles. I figure it will come in at 16-17 ounces. The wings are 4" chord x 22" span each. I think they're strong enough.. 
I've seen them in the classifieds but have found no flight reports.. maybe I'll find out why.

I bench ran it a few times and it seemed to be well behaved. I have a few plugs in stock so should be good for a while. I'll try out the APC 6.3x4, on early runs it spun it somewhere around 17k IIRC. Maybe should check my own post to see what the numbers were..
This thing should be a riot. I have a couple of sets of the Eliminator 1/2A proto CF gear legs - they weigh a few grams and are plenty long to give good ground clearance with small wheels. So I am torn between adding light LG or just basic hand launch three channel fun.
Need to check the volume of the little clunk tank they supply. If too small I'll use a Hayes 2oz. Just came up from epoxying the engine compartment and wing saddle seams, & mounting the R/E servos, next step Goop the throttle servo to the side somewhere. I'm using a 600mAh 1S plus a 5V step up regulator - used them enough they don't scare me if mounted with care and strain relieved decently.

Norvel says 10.14 oz. per hour fuel consumption for the .074, and a 7-3 prop. Cool looking plane. Looks like something AJ's might carry. Always has interesting stuff.

aspeed - yup, that is where it came from! The reason they have all those old stock kits around is because of the ridiculous sticker prices.. this one was at $129.99!
A.J. - it is a 3 gram doodad that bumps up 1S output to 5V, continuous rating 1A, max 1.5A. Fine for a couple of small servos.

Wow.. I put everything on the scale, engine, muffler, radio, battery etc., minus linkages and maybe another 1/2oz of assorted whatnot, and it came out to 12.9 ounces. I imagine the projected weight was determined with the same radio gear that's been buried in the bottom of a junk drawer for the last 23 years.

Dunno, to tell you the truth. Haven't run one low yet. I tend to quick charge the Lipo long before I think it might be low.
If I had more 200mAh LiFe's, I'd use one of those as-is and carry a spare.
It's almost ready, check out the weight! Only the tank missing from the scale. Linkages all done except for quick connectors on the servos, fuel tank installed, throttle servo mounted and some cosmetic cleanup. It'll fly this weekend I think.
Hacker supplies one mighty rubber band per panel plus two spares. I'll use three smaller bands per, thank you!

I'll bet that your new 'Puppy' could be trained to do R/O...
For the Go-Fer, I was thinking I could fly it on EL High rate for R/E/Thr, on Low rate for R/Thr...

I just finished touching up a few spots with some blue epoxy. Nothing left but to install the R/E servo arms and quik connectors. Then.. ok, balance and range check.. then.. oh yeah control throws.. then time to toss it up! Tomorrow aft or Saturday.

Trim all done, balanced, Rx battery all charged, and the forecast tomorrow is not drizzle and wind like today.. hooray!
13.4oz AUW. The .074 will haul it pretty smartly I am sure! I have a bit of right and down thrust.

p.s. top left corner of the first picture - peeking through the chair. I wonder if anyone can guess the kit or even just the manufacturer..?

Yes sir! [EDIT - Top Flite Combat Kittens!] Got a complete twin kit still.. parts are punched out but all seem to be there. Putting together a pair of these would be a fun winter project. I was celebrating my wife's clean table by spreading the kit out and footling with the parts.
Flown these before CP? I never have. My good buddy Dan has a beat up old one in his shop from teen years.. I think I'll build one up for him for fun. I have an AME .061 that might be fun on this?

I've never flown them or seen them flown, but I spied the box many times at the LHS when I first got introduced to the hobby in the 1980s.
The only 1/2 A kit combat plane I ever built was the Goldberg Lil Satan and it was a thrill to fly with a Black Widow on 26 foot dacron lines.

I think the Little Satan may have been a bit faster, but a few of my buddies had the Kittens, way way back in time. I think they were ok. I would rather get one of the new Russian ones, but am sure they would be fine if you can scare them up cheap. Especially with an .06 or .07.

I don't think I'd build one then tear it up, just fly it solo for fun. I do have a bit of a burn on to get a couple of contemporary 1/2A combat models.. though I don't want to buy ten at a time.

I don't fly combat with my 2 F2D ones either. Just flit around a bit. Mine were free ones that were just a bit broken up. At $50 they are an ok deal, but I would not want to break up 4 in a days matches. If you are at a meet, you can get one or two if you arrange it ahead of time. I am thinking of getting one of the .25 size ones as they work good, but don't like the bladders, and hard tanks are kind of hard to get in.
