RE: Breaking in my norvel .074
My daddy is really nice! Today he bought me a quart of sig castor, a gallon of morgan omega 15% fuel, and a 7x3 prop! Will the omega be good fuel for my engine?

The fuel i have (the omega) gas castor and synthetic oil in it. 17% total lubricant. 15% nitro. will it work? I can always add more castor![>:]

Wasp.. Use the Cox Fuel ,to break the engine in..Add 2-3 ounces of Castor oil to the Gallon of Fuel..When you Change to the Omega Fuel,,take 1 Shim out from under the Glow plug..

running Omega15% stock wasnt so bad (after break in)
I used up the fuel I had for break in, and then went with the Omega15% in a pure stock configuration. Was fine. Sure I liked 25%nitro more, but I wont say folks should avoid the Omega. Give it a shot of bonus castor & you will be in even better shape.

RE: Breaking in my norvel .074
Hi WASP flyer, I've been running 15% Omega in my .074 too. No problems and it's an amazing engine on 15%. Tried going down to 5% with no problems, but I do notice tha slight difference in transition and a significant decrease in performance.
Only added castor during the breakin and shortly thereafter. After that I've been flying 15% Omega stock with no problems. Engine temp seems pretty good too. Just put the castor int he fuel bottle then shake it up.

RE: Breaking in my norvel .074
I tried to get my engine started up today but it just wouldnt fire. i changed the glow starter's battery to a brand new one so the glow plug is glowing and i took the head off and its definatley getting fuel. i just dont think "flickin" the prop is enought to fire it up. this may seem to be a stupid question to some of you but when fuel is squirting out the carb, is it flooded?
Oh ya, I even took the hair dryer to it to warm it up.

Your engine is flooded.
Take the plug out, disconnect the fuel line and turn it over briskly. Reinstall the plug and head. Do not connect the tank. Put three drops of fuel in the carb, set the barrel to full throttle, connect the glow driver and flip it over briskly. It should fire. After you get that short blast of power reconnect the fuel line making sure the tank is lower than the carb to prevent siphoning prime again with the three drops and it should fire off and then take fuel from your tank.
Enjoy.

does the glow plug sizzle when energized? does the engine "bump" when passed thru compression while holding the prop? if not you plug is not glowing enough or you are too lean. give it a healthy prime get a GOOD glow ignition source (what are you using?) and flip it fast (chicken stick or gloves)

How long will it run for?
What fuel are you running and where do you have the needle set? Set the needle three turns out for starters and make sure you are at full throttle.
Would it give a short burst on the three drops?
Is your glow driver still charged?

RE: Breaking in my norvel .074
The longest was around 2 seconds. Im using omega 15% with some added castor. I started with 2.5 turns out and then did what the manual said and added another have turn out when it tried to start to start but didnt. It would trie on three drops but wouldnt keep going. My glow driver has a brand new fresh "c" battery in it.
