The .10 will be fine for it, go with a MA 8x3 prop and I think you'll like it. I have the .15 LA in mine, and it hauls @$$ . BTW, have fun getting your C.G. correct. There is very little space in which to work.

What color did you get?

When I put the magnum .15 in mine, I had to put the battery behind the cockpit to balance it...Rog

I just got mine today, but haven't purchased an engine yet. Reading the manual, it states specifically that the Norvel .074 is what this plane is designed for. It makes no mention of any other make and/or model. The fuselage already has an engine mount, with pre-drilled holes for the Norvel's bolts.

Now I have a question: When I get the OS 10LA (I hope they come in this month, I really do), am I going to have to completely redo the motor mount? That is, am I going to have to actually take out some wood, re-tap, and then re-drill everything as if I were converting to electric? Or, will the OS fit in the same position that the Norvel was supposed to go? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You will have to remove a small amount of wood and re-drill. It won't take much skill, I promise. A Dremel with a sanding drum attachment is perfect.

Tapping the wood is probably a bad idea; rather, just drill holes big enough to run bolts through, then use nylon locknuts with flat and lock washers. That will be more than sufficient.

The EXTRA series of planes........they're "muscle planes", not trainers or gliders. Stuff the biggest engine you can in there, then go practice some torque rolls.

I ordered the purple one on the spur of the moment too. That was nearly three weeks ago - I hope it turns up soon.

Eventually managed to liberate a near new CS .12 for it. Haven`t 'built' an ARF yet - I`m really looking forward to this.......

I second that notion. Even with the Norvel on board, I wound up having to use locknuts. I started out with lock washers and tee nuts, and loctited the bolts. Didn't last- every time I landed, at least one bolt had backed out. Double nutted each one, same problems. Finally found some locknuts and the problem was instantly solved.

That`s OK, it turned up on Friday.

What impressed me was that two Rx`s ordered ex Hong Kong via email on Tuesday were on my doorstep Friday also. Three days - great service.

Ya, more input on servo selection would be nice. Right now I am planning on a mix of HS 81's and 55's, maybe a 56 or a 65 as well.

Don't forget the new Futaba S3114's:

http://www.servocity.com/html/s3114.html

These are a lot cheaper than the Hitec HS-65's with similar specs.

Wow, Dave! You're right about those 3114's! A lot cheaper! The 65's are my favorite but it looks like I can get two of the 3114's for what one 65 goes for!
I just picked up a OS 10FSR off of ebay and the little Extra would be a good choice if kept light.

My 3114's center better and have less slop than the HS-55. The only problem is the included arm is weak.

I have another question regarding the standard gas tanks these come with. If I put a 15 CV-A engine on mine, like Mr67Stang did on his, would I have to buy a different gas tank? And if I DO, does that mean I would have to modify the gas tank compartment somehow? From the looks of it, it seems like only the original tank that came with this kit will fit.

Just how long will a .15 engine run on 2 ounces?

my .074 Novel will run about 7.5 minutes at full bore for the entire flight. This is with the included fuel tank from the kit.

I found that the 2 oz was not enough time in the air. I replaced it with a 4 oz and it has been great. I use the OS 15la & I never have to worry about it running out of gas. Yes, DEAD STICK !
