Hi Matt,

I can't say that I played around with a lot of props when I had the OS-10LA in there. I was using wood props. And, I was using 10% fuel, I think (but am not sure).

I'm just at the point of mounting the new engine and was going to drop in the Magnum 15 but you may have given me 2nd thoughts on the OS-10LA. What size prop were you using? I wonder if the OS-10LA can handle a lot of nitro because I have some 25% nitro hanging around somewhere.

Bob

I did some looking around, and it's an APC 7x4 prop I'm running on mine at present. I have experimented with running the engine on a mix of fuels from Sig Champion 25% to Omega 10%, and the Wildcat 15% seems to be the happy medium so far. Interestingly(to me at least) the engine seems to run cooler and make more power when running the 15% nitro 50/50 castor synth blend as compared to the 25% all castor. In both cases the OS was allowed to warm up before tuning to top RPM, then backing off 1/4 turn. I don't know if that helps at all, but at least it's another data point.

Well, I just got through working on the Herr for the evening. I got out the 10LA and then remembered that I had already cut the mounting cheeks for the Magnum 15, so I am going to go with that. But what you mentioned about fuel is something that I can watch for with the 15 as well.

Thanks again,

Bob

Howdy Gents. I picked up a purple one at the swap meet a few weeks ago.It had the os .15 la . She flew good. The frist landing tore off the landing gear. After the fix.I made up a set of wire landing gear and put a O.S 0.020 FS on her. I had to put the battery in the tail to balance. I took her up today. I love it. I've had this engin for about 15 years and this is the frist time its been in a plane. I did most of the flying at 1/2 throtle. Hkbii.

Cool 4 stroke. I still plan to use the ASP12 in mine. It flew great with it in the first plane.
