TWIN FEVER !!!

RE: TWIN FEVER !!!
It's got a 700 mah pack in there already. The lead can be removed in increments to find the absolute rearward CG I'm comfortable with. Spin recovery might dictate that the CG needs to be where it is at, we'll see. Any thoughts of being able to do 3D are out the window until an .074 twin gets built under 2 pounds.

RE: TWIN FEVER !!!
Thanks R2C.
I took the lead out 1 oz at a time and the plane flys just fine. The elevator trim lever is more forward and the plane will knife edge somewhat better now. I forced the plane into some spins and it recovers quickly enough.
It does a sloppy snap-roll.
No report yet on hovering, tail slides, etc.
A third .074 might have to go in the nose for that.

No Pacific Northwest trips on the horizon yet. You will be the first to know if one comes up though!
The same offer is extended...speed planes are quite the rage here in NC, especially on June 28. http://www.caldwellaeromodelers.com/...RallyFlyIn.pdf

I was hoping your event was sooner than that, I'm anxious for the report already. It will be a lot of fun. Do you have a back up measuring system if the Stalker goes down? It sounds like you could end up getting quite a variety of planes to clock.
I simply can't afford any trips, rolling down the hill from my house is about it. Thankfully I drive a company truck, but it still cost $12 just to fill up the lawnmower yesterday [>:]!!

Talking about Radar guns reminds me of when Fernando Valenzuela arrived on the scene. He always had a guy sitting behind homeplate in a white suit and white Panama hat gunning him. I think that was this guys only job, just to keep his suit clean, cigar lit and radar gun charged up.

OK, last but not least, the cowls. With some practice and experimentation this aluminum is easy to work with. I ended up making it too thin in spots sanding off the painted labels. The edges roll pretty well, but I'm sure it won't take much to destroy them. The final weight with just the 700 mah pack for ballast is 38 ozs. I think a .074 powered twin needs to be down around 32 ozs to be a real show stopper in flight. Something like a 360 sq inch Ugly Stick with a big rudder should be easy to build at 2 pounds?
