Is it a clearance problem with the right side of the fuselage? In front and in back of former #1? I would glue 1/2" triangle stock between former #1 and #2 and then get the Dremel out with a drum sander and open it up so the muffler clears.

I think the easiest fix would be adding spacers on top of the bem mounts, say quarter inch. Otherwise I would consider a muffler extension or the above advice.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. After 5 hours of playing around today, I decided rather than add more weight Ill give up looks and hack out the cheeks. And I ran into several problems along the way. The motor mount I chose wouldn't be my next choice when using a TT.07. The beams are pretty far apart and I was commited to drill and tap 4-40 for the engine mount and that just didn't work out. I eventually drilled out the mounting holes to accept "Through Hole" 4-40s with a backing nut. (Trust me, alignment gave me fits!)

What a day! I finally figured out that I have to install the motor with the muffler screws allready installed. [:@]

I'm happy with the outcome though. Proportionately the engine looks fine, not too big, not too little and my hack job came out ok.

Sorry the TT turned out to be so much trouble.  I wish I hadn't suggested it now.   But it looks like it turned out good, and it will be different than all the ones with OS .10s   It should fly the CR just fine.

Dang, I feel for you Gary!  How often I while away hours on some "mini project" that frustrates the heck out of me!  Looks real nice though, it's on par with the rest of the build.   Wish I could build like that.  :-)

If It wasn't for the little challanges along the way, I wouldn't build airplanes! I am extreemly happy with the kit and engine so far.

After this, my next plane will be a Great Planes Tutor kitbashed for 1/2A nitro! Allready have it ordered.

Something to note for those of you who are new to building kits. Never trust the plans for a true wing. Use a square.

Very good tip. I've built several Sig kits and have always had to redraw the wing in order to get it straight. I think something happens in the printing and the expansion and contraction of the paper the plans are printed on. Very good flying planes though.

The left wing panel came out very straight and with only one hitch. The first shear web came up short and would not touch each rib. One of the reasons I keep scraps and actually bought a GP Pete n' Poke just to have extra lumber in case I needed it. (Lots of wood and it's cheap)

The inboard side of the wing needed a little filler and this is what I use. I live within walking distance of a Home Depot and the closest Hobby Shop is a 40 minute dive. Cheap too!

That's curious. I never had a wing where the grain of wing center sheeting ran chord wise.

I think so too. Don't mean to point out mistakes. Options, 1. forget it, maybe not that much of a big deal. 2. cut it out and replace with wood running spanwise. 3. wrap center section with some kind of material like real fine fiberglass and thinned out glue/epoxy.

After sanding the filling down and some stress tests, I think it will be ok.

Yes, and it follows the curve of the airfoil easier.

I have slacked off a little this week on the build but got a little done this weekend. I finished the right wing half and went ahead and sheeting the right side the same as the left, wrong. [:@] I dont think Ill have any strength issues though.

I joined the wing halves and ended up with 5/16" on each wing tip for my dihedral.

"slacked off a little"? Hey considering the time of year and all the things we have to get done for the holidays, I'm in awe you were even able to get to the building board. I wish I could find some time to myself and even just dream at the building board. The best I've been able to accomplish is some hobby shop material purchase for a Wonder I'm trying to finish. Keep pushing forward.

I hear ya Tom. Besides all the holiday stuff going on, Ive been playing around with a new guitar and spent most of today researching my next build. Itll be an BUSA Eindecker 90. Not exactly 1/2a. lol

Well, the bolt on wing mount is done and it aint pretty, or light. I may of added an ounce or so over the standard dowl rod/rubberband set up. Plus since this kit doesn't have any wing joiners, I may have added a tad more weight over the standard build.

Managed to get the servos installed and cover the fuse. Yuck! Not my best covering job by far!

I am courious to see how your plane flew with that dihedral measurement. I have one on the table currently and I am going to use ailerons and would like your input.
