KBusch, I'm hoping you didnt over pay in getting the system at your LHS, when eBay has them for cheaper and brand new with castle warranty - if you did, don't worry. Chalk this one up as a lesson learned.

It makes me cry to see people telling others that using their LHSes is a mistake because they could have saved a few measly bucks. If you need to save a few measly bucks, you are in the wrong hobby, and if you don't care about the steady disappearance of all the LHSes, again, you are in the wrong hobby.

I'd say the more important lesson here is going to happen next time you go to your lhs to pick up a small part and find that the place is closed forever because you and everyone else locally started buying their stuff from ebay. Sure, some hobby shops are a overpriced and aren't even knowledgeable, they deserve to go the way of the dodo, but at others, you aren't overpaying, you're paying extra for the privilege of picking up locally, of getting help when you need it, etc. etc.

Hummmm tuff one. In Australia u are silly to buy SOME stuff from our LHS the price difference is not a few measly bucks it's massive.
Who wants to pay $800 for a summit or revo? $80 for a IMAX b6 charger, $15 for a rattle paint can, $75 for a HW 540 380core motor, $425 for a 2wdslash.... The list goes on... I can get everything cheaper including postage from overseas. Some times 40% cheaper

Very fun car. Only problem i've had with mine is, I run 3s Lipo and I guess it was too much for the tires even without upgrading the pinion. Two of my tires have egged.

RE: OFFICIAL TRAXXAS RALLY VXL THREAD!!!!!
Here is my Traxxas Rally XVL
I purchased this little demon second hand for about $190. The setup on it was terrible! it was sliding all over the place, wouldnt go in a straight line, and the front left suspension was binding.
After about 5 hours of rebuilding and reconfiguring it is a blast to drive. With the 3-Cell LiPo its so fast its a little scary!
As you can see from the pics, I've got the epic Proline RatRod body and some cheapy chromed front wheels. Currently Im running some spare foams on the rear i had lying around as the rims it came with quite litterally broke apart.
On their way to me now is the first set of parts for my build project. Integy 1/16 Rally Michined Aluminium front and rear A-Arms and turnbuckles, and a set of HPI Vintage 33mm/3m offset 5 spoke rims and tyres.
Im also going to get the machined aluminium chassis, push/tie rods, gearbox, guards and bumpers and receiver box.

RE: OFFICIAL TRAXXAS RALLY VXL THREAD!!!!!
So I have been searching google for days now looking for user feedback on Integy Alu parts for the 1/16 Rally/Revo etc. and had very little luck!
There are threads-a-million bagging integy as a whole or bagging certain items for other vehicles, but the few threads I found about this vehicle in particular were all positive.
Well I have ordered each of the attached to find out for myself exactly how good they are. To be honest, mine is more of a show car than a bash car, but I will be driving it with all these parts in!
They Are :
Full Aluminum Chassis
Aluminum heat sink, servo covers, rockers, skip plates, motor mount
Aluminum a-arms
Aluminum Rear bulkhead
Aluminum front bulkhead
Aluminum steering crank
Aluminum receiver box
Aluminum gearbox
I plan to get more, but I have all of these coming from so many different parts of the world I am going to wait for all of these to arrive first!
time to find out for myself if Integy is any good!

just today the GPM Racing Aluminum chassis arrived, and I will be installing that tonight! Cant wait!

RE: OFFICIAL TRAXXAS RALLY VXL THREAD!!!!!
So I spent about 4 hours last night rebuilding my Rally to install the GPM racing Aluminum Chassis. I gotta say I am glad I ended up choosing the GPM chassis over the Integy one. It is definately designed with on-road in mind.
The build was quite painless, despite having no instructions. It did not come with a second pair of braces so I was unable to install the second steering servo, and the servo mounts can have a little slip in them if you dont tighten the hell out of it!
Overall I am very impressed with the chassis. It lowers the centre-of-gravity quite alot, has a smooth flat underside, completely protects the steering mechanism from the ground and has HUGE battery room.
The a-arms and turnbuckles should be arriving today!

Spent a few hours once again rebuilding my Rally. and here it is!
The Integy A-Arms and Ball Joints are fantastic. There was a little binding on the bulkhead with 2 of the arms, but a little filing fixed that right up!

Sorry for the late reply, 1/16, i'm using 40 fr and 45 r at the moment. My rally was converted from a slash and i managed a christmas championship win. Wasn't many cars. Lol any reccomendations on a steering upgrade?
