Default Losi 1/36 DT or Losi 1/24 SCT

Anyone have any opinions on which truck is better. What one would you buy and why?

Between those two the 1/24 would be my choice, nice drivetrain. Though I'd take the 1/10 XXX SCT over any of them, but if you want a small truck get the 1/24. The 1/36 is outdated and too small frankly.

I would go with the 1/24th too. Anything smaller is getting very hard to work on. You will only be able to run them inside or on flattish ground, but if you make a track you will have a lot of fun especially if you have a few mates or others that have them as well and want to have a race. Sometimes it gets boring just running around by yourself.

Indoors, the 1/36 is actually small enough to have some fun with. However, as posted above, they are so small that they are a pita to work on and even some long cat hairs etc will get wrapped up on the axles and cause problems.

If you have a good bit of indoor space or want a micro for outside, go 1/24 for sure.

The 1/36th are more what I call "table-top" cars, very small and I've seen tracks that were built on a dining room table to run them. They're dwarfed, and feel relatively slow, running them anywhere larger than a small bedroom-sized area. Also they're 2wd which has its limitations.
Meanwhile the 1/24th are 4wd, which are easier to drive on all surfaces, and are just large enough and have enough traction from the 4wdand are versitle enough that you can run them on multiple surfaces, from the dirt to the street. While great for chasing the cat or the dog around the house, they're also large enough to run in the driveway or the street out in front of the house.

they are both alot of fun . as stated the 1/36 is 2wd and the 1/24 is 4wd the 1/24 needs a little tweaking in the drive train(diffs are to tight) but is pretty good right outa the box with a lipo its a little slow with the stock nimh battery but still fun, while the 1/36 is actually a little faster with the stock nimh battery . another thing is the lack so far of after market parts for the 1/24 while the 1/36 has a ton of after market support. 1 more thing is the 1/24 can handle brushless a lot better then the 1/36 just my 2 copper coins )

A little early to be suggesting that, being as the 1/24th just came out and the 1/36 has been out for 3 years.

There's never any aftermarket support for new vehicles. The market doesn't work that way.
Only time to use it as justification not to buy a car, is when the car has been out a year and there's still nothing.
No matter how you look at it, there was nothing out for the 1/36th even 6months after they were out (even with meager sales). Give things time, and things change.

No worries. I just would hate to think that someone might get chased off a new vehicle worrying about no aftermarket parts support. The aftermarket always comes after sales and popularity. Part of the reason there was so much aftermarket for the 1/36 was because the little trucks were so lacking, in so many ways. But sincethe 1/24th isa great indoor, or garage, runner it should catch on pretty well - and hopefully the aftermarket will follow. That is, if it really needs anything.

more great points the 1/24 like you said doesn't really need a lot if anything at all , as the 1/36 does need some help to be durable. i do love them both but man that little rally 1/24 is nice the 4wd is great. imo losi hit a home run with these little guys. im still thinking about just grabbing a 1/24 sc truck just to have another LoL .
back to the original question.... it is a hard decision on what to get ,a 1/36 or the 1/24 . if possible i would just grab both

I saw that Hot Racing has started making some cool alloy bits - suspension arms, shocks, shocktowers, steering knuckles, etc., and there's probably more on the way from other sources.

The esc in the 1/36 highroller is the exact same as the 1/24 sct or rally.
