Default rc18t2 feels slow, like the belt is slipping

I just bought it a few days ago, and it always seemed slow, especially on the low end. If I pull the throttle 100% right away, it will accelerate slow, and you can hear what I think is the belt struggling.

It also cant go through grass unless it already has some momentum built up. If I place it even in low grass, it wont move unless I physically push it. It also wont kick up dust.

I have gotten it up to 21mph, but thats by slowly accelerating, the motor temperature reaches 150-170 F depending on the outside temperature. I just know this car cannot be this slow.

Currently I am running a 2000 mAh venom lipo pack.

I would be happy to upload a video of it, and try to record the sound I'm reffering to.

Probably your slipper clutch slipping. Next guess would be your pinion gear slipping on the motor shaft.

You know how the spur gear shaft has a spring and a nut on it? Tighten that nut up a few turns and try driving.

You have just changed my life, seriously. I turned that nut a few times, and it was instantly better. I cannot believe how much you just changed everything. Thank you.

Is there any risk of straining my clutch, motor, ESC?

No, the slipper clutch can be made very tight and still do its job (what it does is protect your drivetrain and motor from very sudden impacts, such as landing from a jump).

Glad its running how it should and you are enjoying it.

Be aware that with all that high speed slipping it was doing before, the slipper plates (2 kind of white pad things on either side of the spur gear) may be pretty chewed up/melted and need replacing. It's a fairly simple operation to change them, the slipper is easy to dissassemble, and the slipper pads themselves are also very cheap. They may not need replacing at all, but it's probably a good idea to check.
