should have gone with a bit higher kv motor for speed and low end power. anything beats nitro these days. the only thing people like about them is the reality of pull starting their rc car and having an exhaust. ill admit its cool, till you need a gallon of $35 gas. most know nitro will lose to electric, but won't admit it. just saying

Still have an Hyper 7 TQ L running with nitro, with a novarossi engine (and almost every hop up or upgrade I could find)...runs great and it's bullet proof....I think that's the only one that would stay nitro...i love internal combustion, smoke, exhausts, oil, gerase...will keep it...for shure...hahahahaha

Higher KV would mean much higher temps of the motor, at this scale (it's a truggy 1:8 scale) low KV 4S to 6S batteries...you have to play with the number of teeth of the pinion...there are options from 11T to about 28T....and the DO make the difference...

Any way....got some questions about the batteries...someone knows about them (resistence, drain, awg, etc)?

Needs help.Is anyone else having issues of burning out 3S LiPo's? I've ran a Venom 3S 5000 mAh35C batteries and nowit will not charge.I cannot charge my battery as a 3S, when I select the 3S type and start the charge it states lowvoltage. It willlet me select 2S (which I know the battery is not) and will give me an error of"battery vol err cell connect"and will not charge the battery anymore. I've ran the battery for a few runs and my last run the battery was inflated and looked like it was going to explode. Since the battery has cooled off the battery looks deflated and now warped.

You should dispose of that battery as soon as you can. It looks and sounds like one of the cells has gone bad.

Looks awesome terminator. Seems like with all the kits, people are going with white bodies, and I think the white looks pretty good on the truck. What electronics did you put in it?

Cheapo 80a ESC, Gforce 540 size 2800kv 4 pole motor, Traxxas 2056 servo, and for a battery a Turnigy 3s 3600mah 20c.

That thing must have gobs of torque! Hows does it do with only a 20c lipo? Does it cog at all? Seems like that would be too low of a discharge. Maybe the higher voltage takes care of that.

Yeah it cogs some but I think that's partially due to the fact that the ESC tries to gently ramp up the voltage when you pull the throttle back. Either way, it works.

As long as it work, and works great and you have fun with it, that's all that matters. Nice build. I would like to get a body and do it up white with maybe a littel orange. And I also want to get some white rims and dye them orange as well. Someone else did that with their XS kit and I think it looks awesome.

Yeah as long as it works I guess then it doesn't matter. I only got the kit to write about it, but now that I'm almost done I'm going to put it up for sale. It's just not for me, and plus I've got a Summit on it's way which will be a lot of fun.

Between $175 and $225. Are you interested? Its only been run around 10 times and will come with the Turnigy 3s lipo that I got for it.

Yeah it's a pretty good deal I guess. Well, if you get the money then let me know. I probably won't put it up for sale until Sunday or Monday.

Got a call from my girl today to say that she had went and ordered me a new truck,

She was gonna keep it a surprise until it arrived but the moment I answered the phone she
Couldn't not tell me,

So I now have a new xs ss kit on its way to me,
I don't want to be putting heaps of coin into a brushless combo,

But at the same time I don't want it lacking power,

It will only be running 2s 5200mah 40c packs as that is what I already run on my savage flux hp,

What motor kv should I be looking at? Esc amp?

Also anyone know the dimensions of motor I should be looking at, and what shaft size?

Hope some body can help me out, soon as the truck arrives I want to get it built,

Thanks.

You will just need a 540 size BL motor. I used a 2800kv 4 pole from valuehobby, and it worked great. Just to warn you, though, the kit can be a pain to put together. Make sure you have good tools and loctite on hand.

I'd consider myself a seasoned rc'er

I have decent quality tools and loctite to hand,

Do you happen to know the dimensions of motor that will fit in the flux xs?

Is there anything in the manual about motor dimensions?

the stock rtr Xs come with a 4000kv motor, just 2800 seems a bit low on kv compared to stock,

Thanks for your help

It's a 540 sized 36mm motor I would stay in the 3500-4000kv range 2800 would be pretty slow for me anyways. I have been running the castle 1410 3800 with a 32t pinion in mine for about 6 months and it's fast as hell with tones of torque.

Yes, but if you read the reviews the 4000kv motor gets hot easily, especially on 3s. 2800kv doesn't even break a sweat and has plenty of power.

Yes I ran the stock motor for a couple of months and then switched to the 1410 3800. They are 2 completely different motors the stocker ran hot all the time on stock gearing and the 3800 runs cool geared up. The highest temps I have had are 150 on the motor where as the stock motor was always in the 170 range. But yes a lower kv motor will always run cooler but I like speed and efficiency and the 3800 gives me that.
