it had to be a batch of bad screws then (or maybe they switched suppliers?) cause when i first started building mine the kit supplied L wrenches were a snug fit. i got both front and rear clips/diff housings/bulkheads/whatever you want to call them finished before they got a little looser than they should have been. at which point i just filed them down.
i do have one small screw that holds one of the a front hing pins in that's a little rounded, but it's do to the wrench being worn and the screw head being partially clogged with dirt. standard issue with any screw. i have to use a really fresh wrench to get it in and out.

My L wrenches that came with the RTR have free play, will not use at all. i think the screws are probably a little rounded when they assembled it in the factory.
Part and parcel of a RTR i guess. I would probably buy stainless steel ones for all the screws that are often taken out. but for the stripped ones, guess i can;t do anything with it.

BTW, can i use the red loctite on the screws? any difference between the red and the blue? Could only find red ones in hardwares stores near me.

DON'T use red! you will never be able to take them out. red is like super strong.
different colors are different strengths. shy of torching the screw and damaging the surrounding plastic parts odds are you won't be able to remove a screw with red loctite on it.
let me put it to you this way. there's red loctite holding the 36mm flywheel gland nut on my 1:1 car. does that sound like something you want to use on a little RC screw?
you need the blue stuff for RC use.

LOL, got it, will look for the blue loctite. Is there a number for the blue loctite?

I have seen a few variations. Will loctite 243 do? its a medium strength one

had to google 243. it seems to be more for industrial applications. but it seems to be the same basic stuff. 242 and 243 are both medium strength so hell id use it.

Almost done! Tonight the body gets the masks put in and the main body color sprayed. Once that's dry, the masks are getting pulled and I'm letting my son brush in on the masked areas. After that's finished, he gets to help me finish the truck by putting on the body and wheels.

Had a nice run just today. some flips and tumble but the truck stayed well. had a little problem getting the steering trim right though.
At the last hop/tumble, the right rear dog bone dropped out. Still wondering how the heck it happened?

And we're done! The star and flame stripes were brushed in by the boy first, then I backed them up with a few more coats to finish. First run was pretty smooth despite the little man kissing the curb a few times, but it just proved to me how durable this thing is. Didn't get to open it up all the way, but it shows some promise in the power department.

Nicely done, can i ask something? Are your front wheels straight? My RTR front wheel are a V shape.

Thank you! It's hard to tell, but the color of the star and flames is pretty much purple. I had purple, blue and red for him to use and they sorta got blended

As for the front wheels, they point straight. Mine was a kit I built instead of the RTR though. If yours point inward, then you just need to disconnect the links and adjust them until the wheels point straight ahead. I little toe in (front of wheels pointing inward, rear pointing outward) is okay sometimes, but you only really need a couple degrees at most. Straight ahead is usually all you need.

I have the slipper clutch set loose and I'm not even getting over half throttle with it. It seems that I break the cups and bend the dogbones when it goes into a kart wheel but I have since upgraded to hpi racing axles and seems to be working great. Still nervous about the 3s batteries since I put the 3s gears that hpi recommends in and shelled my drive gear and my idler gear

I guess I felt it wasn't noticeable. Need my eyes checked...

Did you get your wheels straightened out?

I regret not hardening mine first, so I'm anxious to see how long they last.

So I pulled the body off yesterday to pull the battery for charging, only to notice the fan blade on the esc was gone! 1 run and it's M.I.A. completely. Contact has been made with Viper, see what happens.

I haven't gotten to open mine up all the way yet. And now I have to wait on Viper. Sent the esc out, hope to get it back soon!

G'day guys. Im all new to this so im not sure if I'm in the right area so direct me if I'm wrong.

Im having issues with my savage xs. After a bash at the skate park today on 3S and 5mins into a 2S it suddenly stopped. The lights are flashing continuously and beeping with the fan running on the esc but I have no transmitter controls at all. I've hooked up a second esc and its still the same. Any ideas ???

Hello and welcome to the forum!
Out of curiosity, do you have a 2.4ghz radio? If so, maybe try and bind the reciever to the transmitter again. It may have overheated also. Is this stock equipment or did you buy other stuff?
