Just a few notes and a question as I have started looking at my new truck I pulled the motor out to look at the Slipper and It appears tight already. The spring was completely compressed and when I went to tighten it a little it seemed to almost move the nut at an angle rather than straight down. I assume this was because it really shouldn't be tightened anymore. I backed it out back to where it was.

Its sometimes hard for me to figure out how tight things are as my snug fit is a lot of peoples tight and my tight fit is the head of the screw broken off.

I also got into the pinion and tried to loosen it with the stock allen wrench and completely striped the allen wrench apart. (hope I didn't damage the screw) it appears to already have loctite or something on it and secured in there very well. I will have to get a set of proper tools to work on it.

from my experience with this truck i have to recommend you not use a 20c lipo in it. these trucks pull alot of current and i dont think 20c will hold up. also you can expect the esc to go up in smoke if you connect a 3s battery. i ended up replacing the esc, motor and steering servo. great truck not so great electronics.
matt
I have been running mine on 3s without any issues and if you go back thru this thread it was 50/50 on the esc smoking with eithera 3s or 2s lipos.

well im glad some people are having good luck with running 3s. i know a lot have not been so lucky(including me). maybe my esc will stand up to it when i get it back. someone said on another thread they were told by a hpi rep that they dont recommend running 3s, this got everyone fired up on that thread due to the truck being advertised as 3s capable. has anyone received there esc back from hpi and it smoke again? just wondering what to expect.

I have had my truck for about 1 week now, gone through about 10 packs on 2S and just got back from running my first 3S run. It definitely ran a little warmer on 3S but it survived. The truck has held up perfect with the exception of the right rear shock, which keeps shearing off at the bottom end. Its happened twice and I have not even hit any jumps with it yet. The first time I was just hauling balls acrossed an open field in the park on 2S and it went tumbling. The second time it tumbled a few times in the road on 3S. Its weird its on the same shock.I guess aluminum shocks are in my near future, but I'm new to all this and don't know of any that fit for a good price. Anyone?

Mine and my son's XS are holding up great except for the WOT that occured causing one to hit a brick wall breaking a front arm and bending the hinge pins and axle. Other than that issue no major broken parts...

I also have only had a broken shock bottom, but I did replace the center drive cups with the HR ones. Very solid truck.

Well after one more run on 3S I broke a diff shaft, and on the same side I keep snapping the shock on. Anyone know where to get some of these that are stronger than stock? Stock part number 101230.

Hot racing sells some hardened ones for $13 http://www.hot-racing.com/index.cgi?...=SSXS41M;c=661

I am going to pick up a set for mine since my originals are pretty worn.  I was thinking of picking up an idler gear for the heck of it to get combined shipping but I have no interest in changing the gearing on the truck.  Its been perfect so far for the SCT motor.

I paid 520 and am hoping it will slip through on customs over the border.  I've been lucky with that during the christmas rush in the past.  I used a 60 dollar coupon from tower.  I will be running the HP electronics in it and have ordered a matching 2s battery and will order a matching 3s eventually (to the 3s and 2s batteries I use in the flux xs).  I'm looking forward to it.

The Qbase will likely go in my XS and the MMpro in my XS will go in my blitz for the track.  I also have a ton of mods and tires I can switch over to this truck in time but I plan on just driving it with the HP electronics for a while.

I love the XS and its a blast but I am thinking I should have bought an HP or 2350 instead.  It wasn't in my mind when I saw the XS was being preordered.

Myself personally I always bring one large and one mini rc whenever I go out and bash so I think both are good to have. I don't like run the flux HP in front of the house to big with too much power needs a large open space. That's where the xs shines still all the same power only small enough to bash out front of the house or at my usual bashing spot.

What can cause this?

Bad ESC? I just got my savage XS flux not two days ago, and this happened in less than 5 minutes of first run. Also, when I connect the battery to the ESC, there is no sound anymore. The first time i connect the battery, the ESC made beeping sounds, and it was working fine. 5 minutes later, I shut it down and when i tried to turn it back on. this happened.

I am using Gens Ace 5000 40C. I tried recharging the battery and it showed 7.9v, I even tried to use an electric tester and the battery showed 7.7v. So i dont think it's the battery.

any ideas?

thanks!!
