shoot the leopards motors are only 35 bucks and they have great reviews and im looking at doing a sensored setup better control of the motor and the esc can know the position of the motor and have much better braking and throttle control.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
The mamba max pro is a great overkill ESC. I ran one in my 8th scale buggy and now its in an 8th scale truggy. Elcee - if you are building the kit I would stick with the SS kit shocks, I have them on a firestorm and they are great. HPI also sells a spring kit for them.
The reliability for this truck is all over the place. Other than the centre cups being weak and blowing a slipper I've never had a problem running the RTR chassis out of the box. No shimming or anything. My friends has broken everything more than once and its as brittle as can be. Some have to shim their diffs. Mine was tight everywhere. The ESC frying a lot but its random. My RTR vapor pro is still running in my friends short course truck.
My guess is there are quality issues with the manufacturing and the problems are not design flaws.

Not going with the Castle MMP SCT combo. Found a cheaper alternative that I'm going with. Couldn't get over the bad reviews I was hearing about Castle CS taking forever because of recalls and the BEC being weak and causing issues for some users.
Going with:
[link=http://www.brushlesshobbies.com/120A-Brushless-ESC-Sensorless-Sensored-with-USB-FlashProgrammer_p_113.html#]Brushless Hobbies 120A Pro ESC - $57.98 shipped[/link]
and
[link=http://www.valuehobby.com/power-systems/brushless-motors/gforce-3650w-inrunner-motor-3985kv.html]GForce 3650W 4-Pole Brushless Motor (4000kv) - $39.98 shipped[/link] or [link=http://www.valuehobby.com/power-systems/brushless-motors/gforce-3650w-inrunner-motor-3190kv.html]GForce 3650W 4-Pole Brushless Motor (3200kv) - $39.98 shipped[/link]
Helluva deal for $97.98 shipped considering that the ESC has has great reviews and their CS has proven to be great and the motor has also gotten good reviews and it a 4-Pole and has the 3.17mm shaft so I don't have to worry about buying new pinion(s).
Kinda leaning toward the 3200Kv just because I know it would be that much more efficient and run that much cooler but the 4000Kv is still an option...

Speaking of rims I'm stripping the chrome off my SS rims. Not sure if I want to keep them white to match the body or try dying them orange.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
Welp, since my esc is fried, i figured i would tear the truck apart and find issues to fix if any. the tranny easily comes out. i was surprised at that. overall everything looks good. a little slop in the rear uprights and rear a-arms, but i dont think there is much to be done about that. also the front and rear center drive cups are showing "dents" or wear from the pins on the dogbones. im trying to figure out something to do with them instead of buying hd diff cups. maybe a little jb weld where the pins hit so its snug inside the cups. cause thats the biggest problem is the play. any ideas?

I think orange would look pretty sweet with the white body. if you do happen to go with orange, you have got to post pics!

Orange it is! Will probably pick up some Acetone and RIT dye after my night class and at least get the chrome stripped off tonight.

That would look really good. Would also go with my next body since I plan on going to a blue/orange/white color scheme for my Savage XS wherever possible.
