Lipo battery packs?
Looking to get a better run time and speed. I heard the lipo batteries are good for what I'm looking for. I also heard that they can burn out the motors I don't know if that's true? I was looking at a losi 180MAH or a 300MAH, which one would be better to get to run on a stock losi micro dt?

RE: Lipo battery packs?
Keep it all in one thread please.
EDIT: Bah, changed my mind, I'm feeling nice today. Unlocked. You could have used your other thread though, bear it in mind next time please. Thanks.
P.S. As for your lipo problem, Losi recommends this one... http://losi.com/Products/Features.aspx?ProdId=LOSB0871

RE: Lipo battery packs?
300mAh and 180mAh are the duration ratings of the battery. A 300mAh should last almost twice as long as a 180mAh in the same application. Also, the higher the duration (mAh) usually the higher the current delivery, a 300mAh should be significantly juicier than a 180mAh, all else being equal. Is the 180mAh a 3S? Do you have a link to the 180mAh?

RE: Lipo battery packs?
I got the 300 MAH battery but after charging it and put it in my car it ran for 10 seconds then just stops. The package says for non modified cars? What do I have to do so it will run properly? Do I need a new motor?

After it stops moving if I turn it off for like 10 sec it will run again for like 5 sec and then stop moving.

also the 300 mil lipo will give longer runs but you will want to check the temps so you dont burn your electronics up . longer run time usually means hotter as well .

RE: Lipo battery packs?
Sometimes you have to cycle a new battery a few times before it provides the run times. Really depends on how long it was sitting a shelf. Most LiPo like to be cycled about 3 times before they will provide the full runtimes.
Many models that are LiPo compatiblehaveESCs that have a LiPo battery pack setting on them so they know a LiPo battery pack is installed otherwise they freak out and then give a very short run time. The LiPo Battery pack setting has a low voltage cutoff point somewhere between 3.2 and 2.4 Volts so the ESCdoes not drain the battery pack below it's lowest voltage allowed. Todays ESCs are smart enough to know the votlage of the LiPo Battery packs.
I would read the manual on how to set it up for LiPo Battery packs.
