1/36 is 2x times smaller then a 1/18 car. Go with the ECX.

Go ECX Ruckus 1/18. Looks like a fun little truck.

Vaterra Kalahari/Kemora $120ish RTR brushless, and 1/14th scale (near 1/10th scale buggy size) is a good deal

I've had a 1/36tth scale losi, and unless they fixed the radio issues(or included a 2.4ghz) skip them as I had a micro high roller, and I couldn't even drive it 5 feet away without the radio glitching. They sold a 2.4ghz radio setup for it for almost the damn cost of the RC... and since it used insanely tiny parts you had to buy losi's board as the RX, and ESC were incorporated into one unit.

or you can always meet in the middle and get a redcat racing sumo, 1/24 comes with a 2.4ghz system but the only bad thing is it uses AA batterys which you can get rechargeable NIMH's but i think youd need to do some modding for lipo, for 110$ you can get the losi 1/24 though.
