Default bad battery? or something worse

I just got the iron track 1:18 brushless mastadon. With no load on the motor, I can full throtle. But if I place the car on the floor I can move it if I slowly accelerate. If I don't go slowly the car will be 'jumpy' never reaching even half speed. I can reach full speed if I slowly bring up the speed.

Possibly related, if there is too much load at a slow speed, like start moving while on grass, eventually it will stop responding to the throttle and only steering works. Even if I pick it up so there is no load, the throttle dosent work. I have to turn it off and back on to get the throttle back. This even happened while driving at a slow steady speed indoors.

This behavior is with a fully charged Lipo battery and the truck is brand new as well. Any thoughts?

If I didn't describe the problem well enough let me know and I'll try again.

I'm aiming towards ESC or motor, sadly.

sounds like its cogging which could be caused by being over geared, bad motor, or ESC

Or battery isn't any good and the voltage is dropping under load, and triggering the LVC

Thank you. How can I test the battery to determine it is the culprit? Volt meter and put it on a load?

Also. I did try programming the esc temporarily to disable lvc. Problem still existed...

Any recommendations on a new bat. Esc and motor ? If it's an upgrade to my parts I'm fine with that

have one of these in a hpi recon

As for batteries... in 1/18th that can be tricky as not all batteries will fit.

Thanks for the replies. I think I am going to go with this one.

See any problems with choosing that one?

I am just curious about the burst amps for the esc. says it can go up to 90A, but my battery is 25C to 40 burst.

I am going to keep my battery and hope that it is good still.
