Default Help with an electric Losi Mini 8ight.

So after getting this vehicle used, i noticed after some bashing that the spur gear was making grinding noises, its a plastic gear against a metal pinion that looks like it bit a few small rocks, so after ordering a new hot racing hardened steel spur and pinion gear and replacing them, i notice the slipper pad has a few rough spots, nothing major, and after the first run i can hear that as i begin to take off, theres grinding not gear on gear but like the slipper pad maybe, its like if multiple plastic gears were moving with no where to go, do you think its the slipper pads? or maybe i did something wrong, theres a small gap between the pinion and spur gear, possible big enough for a piece of paper to barely make it through. I also have seen it not have as much torque, both the pinion and spur are a bit smaller then the original, would a bigger pinion make up for the torque ? with out having to get a new spur gear too..

The hot racing spur is steel and loves to eat pinions, make sure your pinion is steel(Robinson racing, .5 mod). If that's not it, check the mesh of your idler gear to your diff, it needs to be flush with the rear shaft or will not mesh right. Lastly, or maybe something you should do first but I still consider highly unlikely, would be to obviously get a new slipper....and be sure you crank it fully(the spring), and the back it down a quarter turn after full compression.

Hope this helps.

Yes my pinion and spur gear are both hot racing hardened steel, the rear shaft was flush, it seems i do need a new slipper, i tightened it down and slowly loosened it and the sound is mostly gone, i did not know about the quarter turn though, thanks for the info.
