Default Mini RC for $6: Tiny Can Car RTR Package

This is my in-depth review of the tiny 1/63 scale RC Can Car, purchased for $6 USD from Gearbest.

Purchase the RC Can Car from here:

To start off from the beginning, the RC Can Car took three weeks to arrive from the date of order. The product arrived by itself, without any cardboard box. All the contents were packed into a regular sized, transparent soda can. Once opened, the first item was the manual. This was quite simple, as it consisted of a labeled diagram of the transmitter and some basic facts about the car. The next item in the can was a set of four mini orange pylons. These can be placed in a line and driven around, which is quite fun.

The next item in the packaging was the transmitter. It is small, just like the car. It is four inches long, two inches wide, and just a half inch thick. This requires two AA batteries, which can be placed into the back of the transmitter once the battery door, which is held in by a screw, is removed. The frequency of the transmitter is 40 Mhz. The range is quite limited; in fact, it is a mere 10-15 feet. The transmitter comes with a screw-in antenna which is to be placed in the top left of the transmitter. The antenna is just under a foot long when fully extended. The controls on the remote are very simple. There are front and back buttons on one side, and on the other side there are left and right turning buttons. The controls are non-proportional, so you cannot choose between going slow or fast, it is just one speed. The right side of the controller has a built in charging system, which is the only way to charge the car. Once the latch on the right side is popped open, the charging cable is exposed. This plug can then be inserted into the built-in port on the bottom of the car. The charging system draws energy from the two AA batteries in the remote. Once plugged in, the car only takes two minutes to charge. The run time is about five minutes. The transmitter has two LED lights on the front. One blinks red when the car is running, and the other blinks green when the car is charging. One other cool feature of the transmitter is that the car can be easily clipped onto the front of the controller. This makes it easy to transport the car in your pocket.

Lastly, the final item included in the package is the car itself. The first noticeable thing is obviously its size. It is extremely small; the same size as a Hot Wheels toy car. The car has yellow headlights that are activated when it is travelling forward, and red tail-lights when it is going in reverse. It also has a three inch metal-wire antenna sticking out of the top. It has quite a cool design, including a neat little spoiler on the rear. The on-off switch is located right beside the charging port on the bottom. There is also a little trim wheel on the bottom front of the car which can be manually adjusted to keep the vehicle running straight. The performance of the car is quite surprising, especially considering its size. It goes quite fast on hard surfaces, such as tabletop or hardwood, etc. The turning is very responsive. This allows it to do fun drifts and spin-outs. It can also run quite decently on low-pile carpeting, although it is not quite as fast. The only negative is the range. Once it gets past ten feet, the connection becomes crackly. After fifteen feet, it stops responding completely. This is surprising, considering that the antenna provided is almost a foot long.

In conclusion, there is no way I can discredit this RC just because of its range issues. The price, which is 6 USD on Gearbest, is unbeatable. Simply owning an RC car that is three inches long, with working headlights and rear-lights, is amazing. I definitely recommend this product, especially at its fantastic price.

Once again, here is where I purchased it from:
