Recently wifey bought me a feiyue fy10 brave as a mess around toy so naturally I want more power and was wondering about good options the motor size is 390 brushed my friends traxxas 1/16th vellion is stupid fast 3370 brushless setup is that similar enough in size to work where a 28 mm brushless is the norm? I have a new transmitter and rx to complete the conversion just was looking for good motor/esc suggestions?

A 390, small for a 1/12 scale. I'd measure the motor mount and the space around it and see if a 540 size would fit. Of course, you'd need a new esc for brushless motors, regardless of the size.

The can size of a that traxxas motor is basically the same size as 390 brushed. A 2845 (28mm x 45mm) brushless motor is the same size as a 390 brushed. A 2838 brushless motor is basically the same size as a 380 brushed. A 2838 (28mm x 38mm) brushless will make more power than a 390 brushed. The velineon is a 4000kv motor so any 2845 brushless motor around the same kv will have about the same power (more or less). Attached pics are of a 2838 brushless motor vs a 390 brushed.

I do not know how much your willing to spend but heres a cheap brushless combo:

Ended up going with a 2845 combo from ebay for the setup was a few days before I heard from anyone so I looked for something up from the factory recommended of the 2838 and got something. In the 3930 kv range you confirmed my purchase I wasn't sure and now I can be confident I didn't waste My cash thank you I can't post links but its the white/ red combo that is 45 amps with a fan
