Default newbie to micro picking a car...

im new to micro and im picking a micro car to buy,id like a little more input on these XMODS though i checked em' out and they look pretty cool, but how do they compare to the mini-z and micro rs4? im sure there slower but it looks like in no time RadioShack will loose control and there will be a ton of XMOD parts out there.
also could someone tell me if micro motors are brushless.
P.S. i am in no way what so ever new to R/C.

Purchase the January 2004 issue of Xtreme RC Cars and turn to page 134--the article seems to assert that the X-Mod is great starter car with a top speed of 6.5 mph.

The xmods look cool and you can put ground effects kits and stuff on em but The mini T is really cool. its fast durable, and once the oil filled shocks come out that will take all the bounce out of it. with a 6cell kan pack its pretty quick. theres a whole bunch of motors out there that fit. with a little dremeling you can fit a speed 300 in it so. *shrug* jmo

The xmods are comparable to the mini-z but in no way comparable to the micro rs4 the rs4 is a kit with lexan body tons of hop ups and fast mine is in the 20 mph range the mini-z on fresh batteries may see 10 mph stock i am thinking of getting my daughter an xmod so she can go with me when i attend club races she already has micro rs4 (my original parts from kit after i added hop-up replacements to mine)

O.K. so i didnt know that te micrors4 was a kit ill remove it just for tha reason (i wouldnt be able to properly build a micro kit+eletronics) it seems like the mini-t is popular, anybody know how fast stock? (an estimate would also be fine)

Mini-T on 4 regular batteries - 10MPh and on 6 NiMH batteries is 15MPh with stock motor. You can always go brushless or get a better brushed motor for it.

whats the brushlife like on a micro R/C motor?

is it as exspensive to go brushless with a micro as it is with a 1/10th scale?

could someone give me a link to a micro brushless motor please?

If you want blazing speed and alot of option hop-ups the micrors4 is the way to go i have 2 well 1 3/4 (need an esc for one) my main car is a Ratzas carbon fibre pan style chassis with ball dif, front oneway, orion big block motor and flash esc second car has a hardcore titanium lower chassis and the rest is stock except for the front one way both cars powered by a 1100 mah orion batter pack and run for an hour or so on a charge

they do have brushes and you cant change them on stock motors. but with the regular 4 cells the motors last very long. i ran 5 cells in my micro rs4 with stock motor 12 t pinion. ive gone trough over 50 bateries on it and the motor works well still. it even peels out when i give it full throtle. but it on a concrete floor. but its a clean floor to get as much traction as possible, wich is very hard.

Sorry for trying to help you!!!!![sm=devious.gif] Theres a lot of factors that play into brush life. If spending $12.00 for a new motor is too much for you then I suggest you stick to Radio shack cars. I for one will not be bothered to try and help you out in the future!! Good Luck! Your going to need it.

you have to buy a new motor. or you can get a modified motor. those you can replacement brushes for. and if you can get 200 dollars from your parents then you can even go and get a brushless motor from hobby-looby.com the mini-t takes the mini ac one. thenyou also need a brushless motor controler (esc) and a seperate rx. that will run you around $151.8 + tax around $165.6 + sh= 175.6 (estamated)

"tons of hop ups" v. "stock". Nice comparison, do you work for the "Shack"? MR-02 with stock 6-tooth pinion = 10.9 mph; with 9-tooth pinion = 15 mph. Dec 2003 RC Car Action at page 136. Now slap in some rechargeables and the free X-speed motor Kyosho was providing for new customers. Jan 2004 Xtreme RC Cars ~ at page 63: Mini-T = 14.7 mph; ~ at page 135: Xmods = 6.5 mph.

im not sure where you get the idea that i was mad at you? whatever it is im sorry buddy but i cant find anyreason for you to be mad at me, i know a lot about R/Cs so "sticking to radioshack cars" is a little bit rude, ive been in this hobby for 5 years and ive absorbed every second of "real" R/C that i could not including the shack, anyway sorry for upsetting you, and sorry for whatever else.

P.S. im not sure but its more than likely that you have owned radioshack car at one time (we all have to start somewhere)
and dont bother helping me in the future if you dont want to as i could learn from many others.
