    The New Xmods.

Move over MiniZ. Better faster Xmods are in town.

    Lancer Evo 8 anyone?

The new chassis... much better than the old ones... and it has AWD which makes it better than MiniZ's with a SMALLER price tag.

The batteries lay low, so it has a much better center of gravity.

New ESC too... all one PCB... it looks like it will be much eaiser to mod... plus it's better from the start.

The old with the new... the new chassis is by far better. It also has new suspension which is very well designed, or so I heard.

Although I heard about the new Xmod months ago, did the Shack get rid of the Transmitter yet?

Until Radio Shack does something about that Xmod transmitter or until I can run an Xmod with my Futaba T3PK without any problems, I doubt if I'll be adding another Xmod to my collection anytime soon. To me, that is one of if not the largest flaw.

If it were a Kyosho brand, then it would probably be more than an Xmod since they are about the price of a Kyosho Mini-Z. And if I were to purchase an Iwaver brand, then I might as well just get another Iwaver since they are supposed to be releasing updated models as well. The other alternative would be to tear apart a working Kyosho Mini-Z that I own or a working Iwaver that I own to fix up a new Xmod which is something I choose not to do since the "gutted" RC would not work then. I also simply don't want to waste time and money purchasing another Xmod and try to install micro-electronics since I could mount those in my 1/24th scale 4WD ABC DTMx4 kit instead. Basically, I'd rather wait and see if Radio Shack Xmods are upgraded enough so I can use my Futaba T3PK.

    I already own an Xray M18 (Mamba-25, 11.1v 3-cell LiPo, CM2080 8000kv brushless), so I don't plan to get an MRS4 either.

I try not to limit myself to one RC brand just like I don't limit myself to one automobile brand. After all, joint ventures and out sourcing takes place all the time. Even if it didn't, some R&D personnel may work for one company and then switch to another company.

Perhaps, it will be a race between the new Xmod, the new Iwaver, and the new Kyosho Mini-Z.

You cant use that coupon with the Evo xmods, only the older ones, since RadioShack want to get rid of them.

Supposedly the electronics in the Z has been upgraded as well and it will still be able to use the standard AM transmitters. However, being Kyosho, I wouldn't expect it to be cheap. Myself, I'm also wondering when an 02 model will be released since that model appears to be based on the 01/015--in other words, an 02 style with a lower center of gravity. Consequently, for those who don't want to spend more, it may still be back to the Xmod or Iwaver if they eventually still end up cheaper than the Kyosho.

I don't know... The old ones did about 15 MPH, so I would say these do about 20 MPH... not sure though.

Also who cares about the new MiniZ's, they cost too damn much. For what I pay for a stock MiniZ I can buy a Xmod with full Xmod upgrades and beat a stock MiniZ.

    Now more info:
The new EVO xmods will retail for $59.99
The new chassis has 1/3rd less parts
The new electronics come stock with 7 or 8 AMP FETs
The motors are more like MiniZ, one motor, tons of gears and pinons
AWD comes with all three driveshaft sizes
    The diffrentials are much better
The new chassis has the batteries at the bottem laying flat.
The new xmods have one ESC and reciver combo like a MiniZ, only larger. One big PCB
The servo is much better, doesn't even need tight turns
Old bodies will still work with new Evo chassis, the Evo kit comes with 2 rear clips
The range on the new Xmods is atleast 10% further (about 60 or so feet)
There will also be "XTrucks" which are like MiniZ overland trucks.

If you think Xmods are stupid. Then shut up and don't post. Because no one cares what you have to say!

You may want to have this person correct his speed test. Then again he only used a Stage 1 with an 8T pinion to get 5.67mph.
    http://www.freebmw.net/carter/xmods

Either way, based on your post--at least the Xmod turning radius should be better than the original and if the range is greater, the new and improved Xmod may make a better track RC car. If that is the case, I wouldn't be surprised if Radio Shack started selling the RCP Track Mini-Tile 96 in addition to the standard 50cm standard track. Myself, I'd love to see more people involved in small scale racing since I probably wouldn't have to drive out-of-state for serious small-scale racing.
