RC18MT Spur and Pinion Protection
I'm getting the RC18MT for Christmas and have read about dirt getting into the spur and pinion gears. How serious is this problem and are there any aftermarket covers that I can purchase to protect the gears? If there are no aftermarket covers available, what have some of you done to enclose or cover the gears. Thanks.

i run on thr carpet cause of the snow. but last summer my friend made one of lexan pieces and glue. it held itself down by the top motor mount screw.
it didn't look the prettiest but it got the job done. he wasn't cleaning the gears every 5 minutes. hopfully their will a company making one soon

I use electrical tape and tape off the areas on bothe sides of the gear. I haven't had any problems yet and have had it about a month. Also make sure you fasten the things retainers just drill a small hole and put a small some wire through and twist around the spring otherwise there gone in a couple runs. Its an awsome truck mines already been off a 4 foot jump nothing broke.

it is a pretty big problem for me.. I live in AZ so everything is really deserty and dry. There currently is no aftermarket cover for it, and if you examine it closely, you will see that there really is no room or space to hook/bolt one on there... I really like my 18MT though. All i have is an aftermarket battery and this thing goes in the high 20 to low 30 MPH range.
