I really need some help here. First off, the engine is not starting as good as it used to but it hasnt lost any compression. Secondly, when i get it running, it runs great. The problem is, when it idles, the clutch engages and it stalls. I lower the idle, but the clutch still engages after a few seconds. Help is greatly apperciated. Thank you, Dave Schutt

Clutch shoes or springs could be worn out.

RE: SPORTWERKS chaos 1/16 buggy
I put silicon oil inside the diffs (the spider gears), and sealed up the whole ring and pinion housing, added a small "fill hole" at the top, and fill it between runs pretty often. I try to keep it less than one quarter full; some still leaks out anyway, but I just wipe that up. The metal Trinity pinions with out drives have good mesh with the stock plastic rings, and seem to hold up a lot better...
Roysben will cast a set (in aluminum) for one of us clones if we send him a sacrificial set...
P.S. The little red button on the diff is a tiny capplug (two for .50 at HomeDepot) to easily refill and visually check the condition of the gears between runs.

RE: SPORTWERKS chaos 1/16 buggy
regular silicone diff oil for your 1/8's at least thats what i have in my front, my center is locked via packing it with grease, my rear i think it either has grease or 30 wt shock oil... probally shock oil, cuz its really loose, which is really fun cuz you can throw it in reverse then hit the gas and it'll do a 180 its tons of fun, i love this thing, tho i pulled a shock shaft outta the rod end today and lost the lower retaining clip... ahh well no issue i've made them for my savage this is just smaller... btw savage shock preload clips work on these shocks if you want a bit more than the stockers offer

RE: SPORTWERKS chaos 1/16 buggy
what cts diff oil? 15,000, 30,000 , 10,000, 20,000, 7,000?
and should I tear apart the diffs and put oil in them before I actually start it up for the first time?
Also what kinda nitro should I run 20%? I am not concerned about max speed, I want the motor to last as long as possible.

RE: SPORTWERKS chaos 1/16 buggy
i'd say run 20-30% nitro with 12% oil max, for diff oil i'd get a few maybe some 2k 5k and 7k, maybe a 10k if you want and just try different stuff

do I fill the actual diff housing or do I just fill the spider gears up with diff fluid?

I usually have mine at about 3 turns...make sure that your idle is set with a slight opening. Occasionally mine will vary, causing a stall. Otherwise it sounds like you're on the right track.

RE: SPORTWERKS chaos 1/16 buggy
you need 3 things for a motor to run spark compression and feul....
check if you're getting feul into the chamber, and maybe just try a diff plug
