Losi Street Meats are a good tarmac tyre and look great on black RPM rims. Good grip and good wear rates too.

I just ordered some Mini-Desert truck tires I hope they fit.

I will give the meats a try since most of my driving is on the road.

Just got my hitec HS-55 installed and I got a couple questions.

1 If the gears strip can I replace them with the metal gears from the HS-5055.

2 What is a cheap motor that I can throw in it. I dont need anything faster than the stock just something to have as a backup incase the stock motor dies. I will be going brushless but want to teach my 6 and 9 yr old with the stock motor.

1. If the gears strip then I would just buy an HS5055, HS65MG or HS81MG (need to mod the chassis slightly) as replacing gears on micro servos is a PITA.

2. If the stock motor is fast enough for you before you go brushless then I would just get another stocker as they are cheap as chips. Might be an idea to hold off going brushless as there are good brushed motors for the Mini-T. I had a CC 6800 in my Mini-T but I took it out and replaced it with a[link=http://www.rcplanet.com/Team_Orion_Baja_Micro_Modified_Motor_Mini_T_p/ori20911.htm]Team Orion Micro Modified Baja[/link] which I much prefer to the brushed motor. If you just want a speed king drag racer then go brushless but I would look at motors the 5400 and run it on a [link=http://www.cheapbatterypacks.com/product/449/Elite-1300-74V-35C-Lipo-Pack.aspx]good quality 2S lipo[/link]. Advantage of staying brushed is that you can run it off the stock ESC. If you are going to run lipo then get a lipo alarm if you are using the stock ESC [X(]

oh yeah its going to be awhile before I go brushless.

Im looking at brushed motor options and I may just grab a few venom fireballs for the kids to trash and the baja for me to mess with.
Im trying to get a cheap roller on ebay so I can slowly build it up and eventually just give this 1 to th kids and keep the built up 1 for myself.

I blew through my first set of stock tires in just a few runs so brushless would just eat the tires quickly, I wouldnt mind but the wife wont be happy if im buying a new set of tires every 2 days.

I drive on and off the road so im looking at the DT stock tires they look like they will do both and hold up. any opinions ?

the baja is a very good motor but first you need to find a place that still sells them and the second problem is the motor shaft is short with limits your pinion choice's greatly . the venom fireball is a very spunky motor but they have a very limited life span but then again they are so cheap you can just grab a couple also the losi rx280 is pretty decent and cheap but again they do not last very long .
the dt tires are decent on street and dirt . they last a while but you will sacrifice some traction for longer lasting tread. ohh 1 more thing you may want to grab a couple front bumpers with kids driving them they will save you some front end parts
and your question about the hs55 gears i am not sure if the 5055 metal gears are the same size as the plastic , as neiloid mentioned the gears can be a pain to get right but it is do able . i will try to find out if you can replace the plastic gear 55 with 5055 metal gears hope that helps and enjoy its good to see people getting there kids involved in the hobby

In this picture the end of the shaft is flush with the end of the pinion (Hot Racing if memory serves). It may limit your choice of pinion manufacturer but not the number of teeth on the pinion and I've not had a trouble with this pinion. Choice of pinion provider may or may not be a concern to you but it is a valid point to have raised.

Hope this helps...

My pleasure. My Mini T with the Baja motor is great fun, loads of low down torque and good straight line speed and off road it picks up really well which is great in tight surroundings.

MLST and crawler tyres are huge compared to the mini T wheels and will not fit. As for the mini Sprint I do not know as I do not own one. Sorry.

Yeah I dont think I want bigger tires cause from what I understand it will make it a bit slower.

What about bodies ? what fits ?

Yes im talking about the losi sprint tires, but they are not street meats they have a more blocky pattern.

Hers a link to them there dirt oval tires. I doubt I will get them the street meats have a better pattern IMO.

In the pictures the black RPM wheels are with Street Meats and the white RPM wheels are Proline Dirt Hawgs.

Yeah I have been out of the RC scene for 2 or so years , what happen to proline ? I have only found 1 pair of the dirt hawgs on Ebay and proline doesnt even have them on there site.?!?

I ordered some cheap GPM mad basher tires but I really wanted the dirt hawgs , I go from dirt to pavement so I need something that doesnt get worn out quick but at the same time grabs traction in dirt. I know the mashers wear a bit quicker on pavement.

I don't think it's Proline, they still make loads of stuff. I think it's more the mini T, others have come along and manufacturers have pulled out of the model. Same with the MLST2.

Glad you like the bodies. Both need the extended body mounts to run them.

Well proline doesn't seem to be making any 1/18th scale tires. at least not on there site.

Any cheap Brushless ESC out there ? I may be getting a good deal on a 1/18 losi BL motor.

heres a link to a cheap 18 amp bl esc http://www.hobbypartz.com/ezrun-18a-...or-rc-car.html
you can find them on ebay to also look for the 25 amp 1/18th car bl esc the 18amp will work fine but the 25 amp is a little better and will run a higher kv motor more efficiently
