1000 isnt that much only in this class dose it seem to go a long way. in 1/8th scale it wont do sqaut!!!!

That's why I will not race 1/8th scale. The cost of 1/18th is the reason that a lot of people are returning to the hobby. Although I do think that $1000 is a bit much. For that price in 1/18th a person could build 4 racers.
