Default Breaking in intellect 1400mah 6 cell 2/3a

This is my first time owning nimh 2/3a calls and I know in 1/10 breaking the batteries in greatly lengthens the lifespan and overall performance of the cells. I have a digital charger so I can set pretty much everything. What amps, mv/c peak and how long should I charge it for?

Thanks!

Charge it at 1.4 amps because it's best to charge to mah or slower. What do you mean by break in the bats though? The only thing I have ever done was charge it and drive it, I have never broken in a bat. BUt if you need to and there is some sort of way to do it I would like to know.

Well with sub c's you charge them at very low amps for about 12hrs and pretty much set the peak detection higher than it would ever trip since it's charging so slowly the extra charge time (if any) will not damage the cells.

You can do the same thing with the small batt. Set to 140 ma and charge for 15 hrs. Or a combination of 150% of capacity. The rate and time isn't exact, but the total should be.

I use my intellapeak to cycle all new packs. I give the first run lots of extra snap rather than just charging and running. I usually cycle them a minimum of 5 times then allow it to rest for at least a day.

NiMH batteries don't really need a break in period. NiCDs benefit from break in periods. Although after about 8 to 10 charges you should cycle a NiMH to help maintain it. One reason NiMH were produced to get away from the "memory" effect that NiCDs are subject to if not properly charge/discharged. Thank NASA and the military for new technologies like these. If they didn't demand it we may be waiting longer for new stuff.

Well from my experience flying nimh packs they take at least 5 cycles to wake up fully. Especially 2/3a size cells. Not sure why but it is that way for me.

1/10th C for 14 hours, no cutoff. Do 3 cycles like that and then once every 20th cycle for maximum performance.

DO NOT CHARGE AT 1400 FOR 15 HOURS. Your house will be on fire within an hour and a half.
