can you use the stock speed controller with it?? Any issues wth it at all? How much faster then stock? How about run times as compared to stock??
Frank

You can't use the stock ESC- I suggest the Quark 33 Pro Car or the Mamba 25. No issues, runs fairly cool (less than 140F), has plenty of torque, and will definitely put a smile on your face, even with 6 NiMH cells. Runtimes are much longer than the stock 600 maH battery- about 15-20 minutes on 6 cells running all-out.

Get the Golden Horizon Air Power 4700, from Stormerhobbies.com, it's only 39 bucks, and it runs very strong in this car. It also has a 2.3mm shaft, so it will fit your pinions perfectly. It will be very difficult for you to get perfect alignment with the Cobalt's 2.0mm shaft on the stock pinions- it is possible to put 1/8 brass tubing over the shaft, but it will never be "true".

What pitch are the stock pinions? Does anyone make 2mm pinions that will work wih this car? I was looking at getting an ST and putting a Wraith in it.

The pitch is 48.6 from what I have read.

Some people shim the stock pinions with a sleeve.

Is the 4700 motor on the detta comparable to a 6800 mamba motor on an rc18 speed wise? I'd to go higher if i could. I'm looking for speed since I drag with my friend mostly. and with the great handling on this buggy..i think it will be manageable.

It depends on the juice. I run both 2S and 3S Lipo with the 4700, and believe me, it will make your hair stand on end. This motor has excellent torque, but it's quite controllable even at high speeds, unlike my Mini-T with the 8000 kV Mamba motor, which is like trying to control a runaway chicken. I would say the 6800 and 4700 would be comparable, but remember that the 6800 is a 280 sized can, and really has to work hard to push this heavy little car, whereas the 4700 is a 370-380 size, and is designed for the weight. You may have a temperature problem with any of these small can motors. Jaejw fried his Mamba motor on the Detta.

That is good to know. I just purchased a 4700 off ebay. Thanks for the advice.

Here is a couple shots of mine.

Carpet racer.

It has changed a little since the photos, but not much.

Stew

Stew, Looks good: I run mine on a carpet oval. Love it. That looks like a lock nut holding the front wheel on. What's up with that?
Thanks
Ron

[link=http://www.b-p-p.com/products.php?cat=36]Here[/link] is the Hyperion as good as the GH4700? You can get the Hyp in a 5000 which will make it slightly higher top speed, but is it a high quality motor and will have enough torgue?

I suppose everyone here knew that for years, but I just found it out.

Thats what I heard. I bash my vendetta all the time. Only thing I broke was a cvd and just fried the motor because a rock got inside.
I wonder how [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXVK62&P=WR]this[/link] motor would compare to a VR3?

your talking about these??
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/produc...ducts_id=16971

what I DO like about the blue axles kit from Duratrax is that it also comes with the alum bevel gears and the aluminum diff output joints (outdrives) besides the axles...

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLXX3

is it safe to assume that the whole hop up line at RC Mart for the Anderson MB4 fits the detta??

FlyinGN: I have the same questions you do? I wonder if they expect you to use the Atomic ball diffs
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/produc...ducts_id=17920
with the Atomic steel CVDs?
Personally I like the gear diffs they have been maintenence free for me so far.
