RE: OFFICIAL VENDETTA THREAD!!!!!!!!!
Once you go to the bigger batteries, just be prepared to change out the ESC. Also, depending on where you are running it, you might go down to a 12 tooth pinion. That would take a bit of load off the motor/ESC and potentially reduce the risk of frying the ESC.

Get a Elite 1500 pack from www.cheapbatterypacks.com As for the charger the DTX Digital Parahina is a great charger for the money or the Superbrain 960.

RE: OFFICIAL VENDETTA THREAD!!!!!!!!!
I know it's not the best motor choice, but I want to know if it's "possible" with or without mods to run a Mamba 6800 in the Vendetta ST. I have an extra laying around. I won't be pushing it to it's limits either. I'll EPA out the throttle down to about 30-40%.

yeah it is but u need a 49t spur and a small pinion like a 14 or 13,,,,, but ur defeating ur purpose cause its geared so high,,,,, but it might be faster than stock,,,,, search other forums and ask "bermbuster" I thinkhe runs the 5400kv

RE: OFFICIAL VENDETTA THREAD!!!!!!!!!
Does it just bolt right up?
It's in another car and I don't want to yank it out unless I have a good idea that I'm actually going to use it. My back yard track doesn't require much power. I'm just looking for maintenance free and I have a motor to spare.
What is stock Detta gearing, 44 / 13? I couldn't just run the stock 44? or will it not fit?

RE: OFFICIAL VENDETTA THREAD!!!!!!!!!
yes it will bolt right on,,,
stock gearing
ST=13/45
BUGGY=16/45
put it this way,, when i had my 8000kv motor in i had to gear it at 12/49 and after every 5 minute run the motor was extremely hot,, so hot that when it did finally give out ,, the green turned offcolor

RE: OFFICIAL VENDETTA THREAD!!!!!!!!!
Wouldn't running a 45 spur vs. a 49 actually be less strain on the motor?
If that is right, then why can't I just gear it like 16 / 45 and call it good?
Correct me if my thinking is backwards.

RE: OFFICIAL VENDETTA THREAD!!!!!!!!!
i wouldnt run a mamba
way 2 hot
bigger spur= less heat i think
smaller spur= more heat i think
bigger pinion= see smaller spur
smaller pinion= see bigger spur
i run my ammo @ 19/41
and prolly could go 22/41
for a mamba
i have seen it only been sucessful with super low gearing
that would defeat the purpose
if you want to get more speed
gearing= something like that 14/45

Ya, with the detta you need a motor with a bigger can, like a ammo motor to give you enough torque to accelerate fast and without much heat, but still reach top speed

RE: OFFICIAL VENDETTA THREAD!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for that chart!!
I actually need lo end and litterally almost no top end ( it's for a tight technical dirt track). My only worry is that the motor and esc arn't getting abused because of the weight of the Detta.
I still really don't know what to gear it. Any suggestions? Again.....I need NOTHING for top end speed. Maybe 8-10 mph tops.

RE: OFFICIAL VENDETTA THREAD!!!!!!!!!
well then with that mamba motor you will ned to have it using the smallest pinon and largest spur.. 13/49 is your only option.. but you will need to find the pinion to fit the shaft and it has to be the correct pitch

RE: OFFICIAL VENDETTA THREAD!!!!!!!!!
I put it in and didn't have much power at full. The mesh may not be right because it was pretty loud. I think the pitch of the pinion is off. Hmm. Maybe I ought to just bag the Mamba idea for the Detta.

RE: OFFICIAL VENDETTA THREAD!!!!!!!!!
to use a mamba motor in a vendetta use a duratrax 11 tooth pinion and wrap aluminum foil around the motor shaft to make the pinion fit the mamba's smaller than stock shaft size

RE: OFFICIAL VENDETTA THREAD!!!!!!!!!
Here's a ball diff setup question:
How tight is enough vs. too much? It was fairly easy with the old 1/12 scale road cars since that adjustment also served as your slipper in a way. You could judge by the amount of obvious slip. Not sure about in the Vendetta., especially when there are two. I got suggestions about looser in the front vs. rear, but would really like to get some feel for how tight or loose to go so I don't fry something by going to loose, or waste the balls by going too tight.

RE: OFFICIAL VENDETTA THREAD!!!!!!!!!
It looks like the Vendetta ST might become my main car for a few weeks. I fried both my ESC and Motor in my Evader EXT. I still need to get a ESC for my Detta but it's cheaper then having to get a motor on top of that...

Here's the test I did:
Hold one front and rear wheel stationary
Turn other rear wheel and then try to stop the other front wheel from turning.
Diff slippage allows you to stop the 4th wheel applying some pressure. Is that too loose for the front?

RE: OFFICIAL VENDETTA THREAD!!!!!!!!!
That seams about right. I have both of my diffs to where the tires will turn together. I also run the rear 1/8 of a turn tighter.

RE: OFFICIAL VENDETTA THREAD!!!!!!!!!
Here's a question I've not seen the answer to yet.
I got the DTX steel cvds and assumed that the screws for the wheels were 3mm. I also recall another post about converting to studs instead of screws. That example showed 3mm set screws. So, when I opened the package of cvds and did the install, I discovered that the DTX cvds use a 2.6mm screw for the wheels. Definitely a much less common size, and forget about finding set screws in that size. Maybe the Atomic cvds use 3mm? Anyways, I was wondering if anyone just converted their DTX cvds to 3mm. If wouldn't be too hard to do. I'm thinking about so I can switch to 3mm nyloc wheel nuts. (You can find them in 2.6s, but they are rare and quite small.)

RE: OFFICIAL VENDETTA THREAD!!!!!!!!!
i made my 2.6 atomic cvds
to 3mm ones
i used a dubro 3mm tap and drill set
and then bought some 3mm x 16mm set screws
and i use a 3mm washer and a 3mm nut to secure it on
works great!
