RE: Cheap Battery Packs Brushless compared to MAMBA
ok, here is an update: i got the car running oh the kitchen table, and i have it lifted up to ensure it doesn't go anywhere. BUT, while i have eliminated some of the cogging by adjusting the timing to the second setting (8-18 degrees) per this....
http://www.cheapbatterypacks.com/pdf/esc30manual.pdf
under acceleration, the car runs in reverse (when i squeeze the throttle) and when i extend my finger (normal reverse) it does nothing.
so, with this, i reversed the controls on the Tx, and sure enough it was the same results, just reversed. on the ESC there are 3 wires coming out of it. red, white, and black all heading to the motor. i have them plugged into the corrosponding colors on the motor. now, would it possibly be reversed?
it is a shame there are no instructions on this thing. also, if there is interferance from the speed controller to the Rx (or vise versa, as it were) how does one eliminate it? right now i am not experiencing it, but i havev the ESC out of the car for tuning/testing, so it is about 4" away from the Rx.

with BL motors the color dont matter
if it runs in reverse simply switch two of the wires
so if you had
red to red
yellow to yellow
green to green
make it
red to yellow
yellow to red
green to green
that will fix your porblems

ok, so far so good. thank you for the help!!!!
the last issue is the interferance issue. a buddy suggested wrapping the ESC with a few small layers of aluninum foil, then wrapping electrical tape around it. does that sound like it will work?
the sooner i get this figured out, the sooner the GPS gets taped to the truck for some speed testing
any and all feedback is appreciated.

I said it was a waste of money, at least the motor. I have had one and it doesn't last very long. I would rather buy a Jwerks system for the same price.

I have over 20 packs thru my CBP 7800 motor. Each run is approx. 15-20 minutes of full throttle speed runs. The motor has yet to exceed 140 degrees. I have been testing this in a box stock 18R with a small GPS mounted under the body. The Mamba 6800 motor tops out at 34 mph. The CBP 7800 motor tops out at 40 mph. I have another RC18 that has been extensively modified to handle a 4 cell li-poly pack. I am going to put the 7800 motor in it and put 14.8V behind it...then we will see what it can handle.
Personally, I would choose a Mamba or CBP brushless set up over any others.

slotracer,
the bpp site they are talking about is bishop power products, www.b-p-p.com and they do have the best price on mamba's
and if you need lipo's the best prices ive found are at www.superfastrc.com (although you have to put them in the shopping cart cart to see the sale price)

Personally, I would take a Lehner and Quark over any others... I would like to try the EC, but the motor could not handle the 3s load.

RE: Cheap Battery Packs Brushless compared to MAMBA
On the stock 18R, I am running a 6 cell ni-mh 1500 mah elite. On the modified street truck I run a 4 cell 1320mah Thunder Power li-poly. Obviously, most of the 1/18 scale brushless motors are going to perform best with 6 or 7 cell ni-mh or a 2 cell li-poly... not 14.8V.
My modified truck does have a Quark 33A pro ESC since I am running such high voltage.
