ordering brushless ATM, need quick opinion
ok i am on BPP site now and i am getting ready to order my brushless for my mini baja and just wanting a few last min opinions on which combo to get
here are my options
Mamba 6800 Competition Brushless Motor and Controller combo for $99
Quark 33A and Mamba 6800 for $110
Wrath 7k mamba controler for $125
I am basically using this baja for on road type bashing, i have been reading on some other posts that the quark had some problems with the stock radio, was that just with the mini t or with the baja electronics as well???
i was leaning towards the quark/mamba combo if the glitching has been fixed but let me know what your opinion is...

RE: ordering brushless ATM, need quick opinion
First why not the 8k(compx)?
I'd get the Quark its only 10 dollars more
And there could be no problem with the mini-t radio beacuse you cannot use the stock radio with brushless
i've never heard of any problems with glitching
im running the comp x with an ofna controller and traxxas reciever and all i get it cogging, not bad.

RE: ordering brushless ATM, need quick opinion
what is the smallest spur/ largest pinion gear that can go on a mini-t,,,,
the wraith will have much more torque and power than the smaller mamba motors but with the wraith you have to gear it right

Its controllable with the 8k on 6 cells, right now im running the stock spur and a 12t pinion
But if you ever plan to go lipo get the 6800 unless you want a nonguided rocketship
I didnt know you could put a wraith in a mini-t....
i always thought the holes didnt line up but i never looked into it(im guessing)

i would go with the quark and mamba combo unless your getting the castle link, will solve any cogging on the 6 cell. I have a mamba 25 and c4 8000 combo and its still controlable. it doesnt matter really which of those kv motors you get if your upgrading your battery unless you want to get super insane car flying speeds, because with an 8 cell or lipo and any of those mid to high kv motors and you will get 50 plus easy. the lower kv motor will be better for you if you end up sticking withg stock battery, as it will have more efficient torque.

RE: ordering brushless ATM, need quick opinion
Well i got my 6800 and my quark 33A today.
i got it all installed and it looks nice and all but i suck at programing it apparently , when i set the max throttle it seems to not want to do it correct. after i set the throttle then i pull the trigger it starts going but when i pull the trigger ALL the way back it stops. any suggestions with that???
Also i have a 12t pinion and the stock spur gear and it seems to not go very fast at all. i think the stock is only like 40 tooth, do i need to go up to like a 60t to get the sick speeds or is the problem just in my crappy programing abilities???
Any suggestions would be appricated. thanks

RE: ordering brushless ATM, need quick opinion
Well i guess im not a total retard, troy got back to me and i guess he said the quark has some problems with the stock TX sometimes.
The throttle band is just to big on my TX and it is causing the quark to freak out.
As with troy he offered to replace the quark right away with a mamba ESC but i would rather have the quark so i am going to go buy me a nice radio today, prolly a good idea anywho when dealing with the high speed

I wish I would have seen this thread sooner...
The Quark ESC does not work with the radio in the Mini LST and Mini Baja.
Also, you could have saved some money by getting the Quark 22a, you will never need the 33 amps.

RE: ordering brushless ATM, need quick opinion
yah i got annoyed today to i went out and got a new spketrum dx2.0 so that should work a lot nicer than that stock crap.
and i just went ahead and got the quark 33a so if i ever get a bit bigger car i can just move the esc over to that car, it was only a few more bucks so i figured why not.
so now i go to try to program the quark again with the new raido system installed and now my dam batteries for the TX need to be charged , i swear im never going to get this thing going...
o well a few more hours for charging the batteries and ill get it up and running

yah inverted was right, i droped in my new raido system and it was simple to get programed after that. man after playing around with the new raido you realise how much that stock stuff sucks total ass.
In the end im glad i had to order the new raido, seem like i have a lot more control now, only because i have not droped in my lipo yet
