RE: M18T Spanking a Recoil
Lol! N00bs!! Sorry, it had to be said. That recoil coulda had a V8 in it and he still wouldn'ta touched you, who was it, a member of the general public?
Seriously, though that is impressive, may I ask what the spec is on the M18t? IIRC, you run the black nt18 springs and 45 all round on the two hole pistons, so what I'm really asking is what the motor/battery/ESC combo is? Thanks...
Oh yeh, do you have any anti roll bars? It looked super stable round the corners...

I didn't see anyone spanking anything....and that track makes those cars look huge! LOL. I'm just messing mini me, that looks like fun. I think it would be cool to have an RCP track in my basement to race Micro-Ts and Mini-Zs on. Speaking of Mini-Z's, I need to go find mine again.

50 wt front, 40 wt rear. 2 hole all around. Black springs with no ride height adjusters. 2 degrees rear, 1 degree front. Rollbar rear, none up front. Topcad on road 1/18th truck rubbers.
Thunder Power 1320 2 cell. Aon 4900 with 13 tooth on Mamba.
And yea, Recoil was driven by a member of the general public. When the actual owner drove it, it was much closer.. except he would traction roll if not careful.

Err.. yeaa. Thats a 1/18th track. Kind of shows the flaws of those bigger scales on tracks designed for our size. This was a expo, and for fun only, so we werent worried about counting laps officially.
Also, again, I did not traction roll even though i was going much faster through the corners. A point continuously brought up on other threads that the Recoil is supposedly better at. Well, obviously it depends on the vehicle make, driver, and setup.
BTW: Why would I want to run at a parking lot bashup when I can race locally at a clean, consistent, and indoor asphalt 1/10th track?

i finially got to see the vid, and i have to say, it looked like the recoil could have went pretty good around that track with a capable driver. who ever that was just looked like they couldn't take a corner clean with any speed. there at the end it looks like the recoil was getting on it pretty good then right into a wall.

I guess this is more that these are different scales. And it takes a truck version to compete. Which is why I hear about the idiocy of running 1/18th vehicles and sedans with a 1/14th makes me squirm. Its silly and puts the Recoil on a pedestal that it really does not deserve. I would prompt anyone who would say it is fair to run a 1/14th with a 1/18th to also run their 1/14th with 1/10th mod sedans. After all, they are both 4 scales apart.

i agree with that statement in a way. even though the scale difference is equal, the recoil still has a narrower wheel base which leads to its dissadvantage around corners against the 18th trucks.

Yes, but consider the vehicles it will run against when you have a poor racing setup. M18s and RC18Rs even though in themselves should be different classes, are both much narrower and smaller than the Recoil. Its simply again silly to try to race with such. It would be like as I said, you attempting to run with 1/10th. While you might able to keep the speed down the straight, you wont be able to in the corner.

RE: M18T Spanking a Recoil
Carisma (what the Sportwerks really is) has been around for years. Nikko also offers somewhat hobby grade cars in this size.
I still think this (hope) this will eventually flop. Remember all the excitement of the 1/12th sedans? That ended up costing a few manufacturers money after they built competition only to find no one raced them anymore. We have enough problems with getting enough 1/18th competitors without splitting the class for these. But even worse combining them.
These wouldn't have taken off as much if Carisma had released it under its own name. 98% of the hobby shops have to deal with Horizon. So the Sportwerks lineup can reach the eyes and ears of a shop more than say HPI or Xray. So thats another strike for competitors when they have to compete with a market saturation a distribution company directly to shops, and Horizons ability to sell cheaper since they can sell in much higher volumes.
