All right, I got my detta today! I have torn it down and have found out much. The motor is a hyperion Y22-L (long version, 44mm long body) 5000 kv (2.3mm shaft). The esc is a mamba 25 esc, has 19-49 gears, mini inferno tires and CVD's (fronts bent). I got a battery with it, but I am getting a new one. But on a first test drive, this thing hauls! It's almost as fast as my CRT! One minus, though, the motor is longer than the stock 380, so a micro servo does the steering, but it still works pretty good. I'm ordering a three-pack of spur gears:41, 45, 49 so I can test out this hyperion's capabilities. BTW that ammo 5100 souns good, for $33! Just have to get 3.2 pinions.
Now my question would be, what voltage should I go with? I was going to go 2s, but with the modifications to the chassis, I can fit a few 3s lipos from cheapbatterypacks.com stock. Just wondering if these brushless motors perform so much better with the extra voltage. The max dimensions I have are 40x92x30. But anyways, here's some pics, if they load up.
P.S. Gotta love the zip-tie antenna and battery hold-down!

if u must use a slower motor with a smaller 2.3mm shaft then u may want to look at the gh4700 and the gh3600 ... the problem u will have is replacing both the pinion gear and the spur gear...
I whouldnt call the gh3600 laid back or anything..mines goes 40 tops and i ripped thru my diffs in about a week of running...i have yet to get my steel ball diffs...

trust me,,compared to the ammo and ofcourse the permax,,, the gh3600 is definately more laid back,,, not nearly as fast or as powerful

I bought two.

We'll see. So I'll need a 3.2 pinion? Is that fine for just dropping in on the stock spur?

Also, should I be wanting to install a heat sink, or is this going to run cool enough?

I have a Mamba 25 or Quark 33 that I have already. Not sure which one I am using.

For the pinion get some Robinson Racing 48p Metric pinions. those come in a 3.2mm bore and are a direct mesh with the detta spur. You can use a Mini Quake heatsink on the ammo. Its cheap so I'd get it. If you find that you don't need it, save it for later. You can get all this at tower, so I hope you didn't check out yet...

either esc will be fine. The mamba could use a heatsink though. I use a rc18t xps esc heatsink on mine.

Would be Ammo 3900 be like a mamba 6800 in a Mini-T? I'm looking to get my Mini-T and my Vendetta ST running about the same speed. I already have ball diffs so all I'll need would be CVD's and Alloy Front Arms, right?

start breaking a few things.. and then you will know what you need to stock up on.. for me it was gearis.. the diff gear and center shaft gear.. but i had a case full of parts.. but i had a ton of those gears..

have fun with it.. and try and get a video.. i have beenn very busy lately and havent been able to go out and have fun... and the closest track is 60 miles away... so i hope to see vids from all of you racing or just acting a fool..

have fun with it,, and increase your skill level..

My Vendetta ST should be running in the next week or 2 because I'm waiting on the lhs to get my street tires in. I also bought a Evader EXT because I'm really happy with all of my duratrax stuff so far.

hello guys i havent been here in a while and just started dirt oval again a few weeks back. i installed all the suspension stuff to change the buggy to the truggy and wow the thing was a mess to drive on the dirt oval . the latemodel body i use is sorta heavy with an air dam and some shoe goo and mesh tape on the underside not helping any. i tried the stock buggy tires and that would not work i also tried some jaco foam tires just to see what would happen and was just too rough and then i glued up a set of stock detta st tires and man i couldnt believe it . with some trinty 100 wt shock oil all around this thing is dialed. the only problem is the motor is heating up some and i seem to zap a 1500 mah 7cell in 4 min. qualifier and i think the mamba 25 is cutting out some times. i may try the permax motor that jae talks about cuz ive had one for almost a year and have never tried it. just not sure if the mamba is ok with it. i think i may try a 28mm heat sink in the ammo first though. sorry for the long post jst had a lot to say i guess.

thanks jae, im all up for that. now that the truggy set up is close to where i want, it is a real pleasure to drive. i did have the mamba set to flat line at 80% but reset it to linear default and i just gota say seeing this thing going down the back stretch front end way up is so much fun. i rarely do that when racing though cuz it cost me time or control. the only thing about the whole thing that i dont like is the way the body fits now. it looks kinda dumb cuz of the tries. im gona try the latemodel from the slider set-up and hope it looks better than the Mc Allister. ive also ordered a set of tries for the 1/2 eighth st and gona try those atomic adaptors and see how they do. i hope the tires dont ballon. thanks again for the motor help!

they will balloon,,, best thing to do is make your own set... using the front tires for 4wd 10th scale buggies.. either the holeshots or the inside jobs.. and make sure you use bomb one inserts by trinity,, but you have to have a lil patients when doing them. it will take some time and a lil effort to get them done right

do you have everything covered... including the wheels.. ,,, they are slightly larger then the stock wheels,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, or you can put together your own crime fighter tires.. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...77249582777483

everything is covered. i had to carve up the body a lot just to get the truggy tires under there and still get a little tire rub now and then since the tires are under the edge of the shell. the truggy tires work quite well but i thought i would give the kyosho tires a try. sounds like it may have been an oops. i think they will be here friday so i can look them over. thanks for the idea though. sounds like it would be great for the truggy on the offroad. ive never had mine on the offroad. is that video of your truggy?

19/45 on 2s ;for mega i ll try the 16/15/2 or 16/7/3
got 3 different spur size and 4 robison gear to try for gearing but for now 19/45 has plenty of power everywhere ,using 1/10 onroad wheel and proline crimefighter for dirt(half8);
