RE: Vendetta Brushless motors... pros/cons
jae your beast was hookin up in the vid looked good in the air too. i added a 28mm huge heat sink to the ammo and the hottest i could get it was 163. i took the a miain with 42 laps and spanked 2 fast 18ts and another detta. jae do you know of a threaded shock that will work on the detta truggy? i wonder about the mini inferno st shock by 3 racing. any help would be good.
oh yeah i got my inferno tires. too big----- oh well i might run the truggy offroad sometime so ill keep them.

RE: Vendetta Brushless motors... pros/cons
I have been reading these posts, and the Vendetta thread, and cannot find gear ID information.
I am trying to set up my ST for the CM4200/Mamba combo, and need a source of pinion gears of the right diameter/pitch/module(modulus) to match the stock gears. Note that the CM4200 is a 2mm shaft. I got some Associated 48Pitch, but the diameter is enough smaller to decrease the "mesh" of the gears.

Don't know what gearing I intend to use yet. My main goal is to have brushless motive power since I have gone through THREE of the stock 7500 ESC's so far after going to the 1200 mA battery packs. I purchased a range of 11-15 of the Associated gears for testing, but the overall diameter of a 13t stock and Associated 48P are different.

Rain all you want. It was $20.00, and I meant to type "CM2042". It is the 4200KV Mamba, and I am matching it to the Mamba 25A controller. With that said, what is the correct pitch/modulus gear to purchase for a 2mm shaft in a Vendetta ST?
I also have a Permax BL-400/4D to try, but I plan on testing both setups. The Permax will use the stock gears nicely, but I need the correct gears to fit a 2mm shaft for that Mamba

RE: Vendetta Brushless motors... pros/cons
I already told u whete to go,,,, and ur not going to be very happy with the lil tiny mamba motor,,,,
with out knowing what gearing ur going to use,, there is no way to just give u the link to a particular gear, they may not make it,,,
the pinion needs to be a 48 pitch metric ,, I thjink its .6 module,,,
and the permax will tear every gear u have if u gear it at either 16/45 or 13/45 (stock gearing) the permax is best when geared at 19/45 or 21/45,,,,,
btw have u read this thread from the beginning,,,, reason I ask,,, what makes u think the 4200 will be able to do anything,,, it will probably be as fast as the vr3 motor,,,,,

RE: Vendetta Brushless motors... pros/cons
If you notice in my posts, my MAIN reason is cost, and moving to BL vice Brushed. I am done with burning up $50.00 brushed controllers every few runs. I am not after blistering performance. I am a recreational player, and not a racer at all. If the CM2042 has performance roughly equal to the stock brushed motor, I have achieved MY goals. If I notice a difference in performance that makes the Permax a better fit for MY use, I may stick with it. Otherwise, the Permax is earmarked for my EasyGlider Electric.

I did. I am still looking, since it appears they do not have much for 48P, .6module with a 2mm shaft hole......

RE: Vendetta Brushless motors... pros/cons
johnny you should look at page 1 of this thread. if the comp x is going in a vendetta st or buggy you may want to reconsider. i tried them in mine and toasted one in 4 minutes and another in 3 four minute runs. they seem to work ok in a rc18t or b but a detta is heavier and for some reason seems to need a lot more motor and battery than the associated rigs. if you cant find a pinion i saw a fellow take a pair of scissors to a pop can and cut a piece to just wrap around the shaft slightly less than one time and the detta pinion fit ok. but i would still suggest you re-think the comp x.
im still looking for threaded shocks that work with the vendetta st . anybody got some help?

I for one, DID read page one. Thank you for that information.
Now on to the question at hand......
Does ANYONE have a good source for 2mm shaft pinions that will work in the vendetta?

RE: Vendetta Brushless motors... pros/cons
Atomic is the only one who makes 2mm .6mod pinions for the detta & mini quake. You can get them at thetoyz.com or rcmart.com.
With any of the mambas, you will have to gear down as much as possible. I think the stock mount allows you to go down to 11T, so start from there. Watch your temps, and maybe even toss a fan in there. Better yet, would be to trade or sell the mamba and use the cash to buy a 2.3mm or 3.2mm shaft motor (28mm diameter cans).

RE: Vendetta Brushless motors... pros/cons
Brushless is just days away !
I'm running Integy 1400 batteries at the moment. The packs come with 20ga wire. How much real benefit is there in stepping this up? IF there is any tangible benefit, how big do I go? I'll be running a Mamba25 and Ammo 3900. I've not yet checked to see what the supplied lead wires are for motor and ESC, but thought I would match them if it was worth changing out the leads on the batteries. Changing to Deans connectors is already assumed.

i try to go as big as the space allows me to go.... the larger the wires the easier the flow of electricity,, the smaller wires will heat up faster..

JaeJw1 did you test the Novak Mongoose system... I'm thinking about getting a sensorless now that the new frimwares are nearly as good as the sensor BL systems out there.

RE: Vendetta Brushless motors... pros/cons
sorry to take it back jeajw1
but hobbiehorse called today with bad news
they will only sell the permax 400/4d with the 37a speedcontroler
and that would be $145
order canceled
if you find anywhere else let us know
but i think that will be it for the permax
thanks anyways

hey all
im doing a complete rebuild of my vendetta st this upcoming weekend
got some new parts for it too
and i wanna rebuilt it so that it works great cuz i wanna race in 2 weeks =)
so i got...
graphite chassis
aluminum knuckles
gear diff (for the rear,,, locking it)
ball diff rebuild kit
clear body (gunna paint it red and white)
metal gear servo
alloy hexes
90wt shock oil and yellow springs =)
graphite battery strap
alluminum screw set
sway bars
im still looking for the 2.6mm set screw or shaft that i can put into the hex/cvd
so i could use a set screw no luck so far
and when my tires go bald
i remove them and put on some d-bars
cuz i dont wanna get rid of my sick graphite pattern
wheels lol
how do you remove tires from the wheel?

Someone told me once that you could remove them by putting them in the oven.
350 for about 10 minutes he said. I guess it softens the glue. Just keep an eye out.

RE: Vendetta Brushless motors... pros/cons
Has anyone tried the align 430 motor? 3700kv outrunner. Currently installed in my rc18t (It's 28mm like the permax). Was pushing my rc18t with a 28t pinion, 8 cells, and didn't feel warm. Definitely smoother possibly more torque than the permax. Not as smooth as the ammo. Only knocks I can think of is
1 - the inner rotating can is heavy, so the motor has it's on mass to accelerate, limiting the usefulness of gearing down at a certain point - Not that you need to really.
2 - holes in the motor for cooling need to be covered up if going through dirt - temps make me believe it's fine to do so.
3 - 3.2mm shaft, so your usual pinions won't work.
Given the mass of my rc18t, motors in either my rc18t or vendetta do a similar amount of work.

RE: Vendetta Brushless motors... pros/cons
u thought the ammo was smoother than the permax,,,,, ????
I have been thinking about trying the align,,, the only turn off is the low kv rating,,,,,
me personally I need something that will bring the vendetta up to speeds to tackle the large 10th/8th scale jumps ,,,,
it would be nice to see a video of one running in the vendetta,,, just to get an idea.....

RE: Vendetta Brushless motors... pros/cons
my ammo 3900 is smooth
its smoother @ high speeds
but not as smooth but controllable @ low speeds
not even close to my brushed t4 regarding smoothness lol
but i havent put in the new mamba 25 firmware
that is said to stop cogging and make it VERY SMOOTH
heck im going to do that right now =)
