mamba waterproof?
so whats the concensus. Im sure its been discussed before but couldnt find anything in a search. I just fried my second stock esc driving in the slush so i bought a mamba 6800! cant wait for it to arrive. But the big question is will it withstand a little bit of water splashing about or should i beware? Iv read the motor will be fine but what about the esc? Also what gearing should i start out with? I have a 60t spur and a full range of pinion sizes. Just using it for all around bashing on pavement and grass
Thanks- Bryan

thats cool. Still though i dont know if i trust anything from youtube. I guess if no one has had a failure due to water that would be a good enough answer for me. Whats the main cause of failure for a mamba 25 esc? Suposidly castle creations has great customer service and warrantys almost anything is that true

well i dont know about the motor but the esc obviously isnt waterproof not on mine anyway. i got it second hand and the ends where the wires come out the shrink wrap is open. I was thinking i can silicone the openings but i ended up just using electrical tape to tape it to the chasis and covered the ends in the process. it should keep the splashes out.
I will say this the mamba is faast i wish it wasnt raining so i can take it outside and see what it can do!
I do have one quesion about it. Is it normal for it to shudder sometimes at start up? It sounds like the gears are actually skipping but im pretty sure its the motor. Could it be because my battery is low?

RE: mamba waterproof?
i got a good run today outside with my new mamba 6800 it is friggin fast! i love it! exept i took one too many tumbles and busted off my rear wheel and lost a dogbone. Its because it poped out of the rear pin holding piece. im going to get an aluminum one and probrobly just more plastic dogbones. i dont see a need for the high dollar aluminum ones. maby some cv style ones i think there called mip? ill have to look around. The brakes come on too strong aswell. ill have to ajust that

RE: mamba waterproof?
Hi, i wrote a e-mail to Castle creation to ask them and this is the answer i got back :
We've run them fully submerged in water. They're sprayed with
silicone conformal coating...the same stuff used on boats to make them
watertight.

So i guess they are waterproof but still i would not test mine to see if it's true !

RE: mamba waterproof?
why wouldnt you. you have proof from a castle creations employee that they are waterproof and if you mamba fries they should replace it free of cost because of the email you got

Well you do it and let us know how you go. Me, i would rather be inside when it rains than outside trying to prove a point.
I wish you well.

RE: mamba waterproof?
Guys, I'm the one who created the video linked about.
That was done about a year ago, I never even used motor cleaner and it still runs great to this day.
The escs are coated with an expoxy that allows them to be waterproof.
Keep in mind though, The mamba maxx controller is not waterproof. The USB slot has not been coated so if that gets wet your done.
But the Mamba-25 is 100% waterproof.
