RC18B Most Needed Upgrades (not including electronics)
I have a RC18B Factory Team Kit that will be here tomorrow. I'm trying to come up with a list of parts that I should upgrade that doesn't include electronics. I have a few aluminum parts coming from FFRC for it that should be here tomorrow as well. I understand there are issues with the steering. What I havn't heard is if there are available fixes for those problems that puts the RC18B maneuverability on par with the Detta. What would you guys recommend as the most important upgrades outside of electronics for a RC18? And if possible include links to that upgrade. Thankyou

i would recommend a metal drag link. this helps w/ the steering slop a little... mip cvds and metal diff halves. the cvds make the drivetrain super smooth and the metal diff halves allow you to take off the outdrive rings that limit suspension movement.
if your going to be driving off road, a dp gear cover would be helpful also.
hope this helps.

I'm considering two options for the steering.
Either the Driven products drag link
here http://www.drivenpro.net/index.php?s=store&pn=102
or the FFRC steering link

which would you recommend? why?

The DP steering link seems to be the most simple and effective design. An aluminum one will strengthen it but the slop is still there if not worse. I know since that's what I did. You don't even need screws for the DP link, it just holds itself in place.
I'm glad I got the aluminum steering assembly because I have both steering arms in alum. If I get the DP link, then the whole thing will be nice and strong.

ive had the dp link and maybe i just got a "bad" one or something but it sucked... it didnt work smoothly, the machining was poor, it rubbed on the upper chassis, and it installed poorly.
i would go for the ffrc one myself.

yes, i do have a fix for the servo saver slop... you put an appropriately sized o-ring in between the spacers in the servo saver. it helps a lot

the part that constandly fail in my rc18t factory team was the rear arm mount, I replaced for a alum one, and havent had a problem with it since I changed. also if you are bashing get the rpm wide bumper it really works.

what alum steering assembly are you using?

There is a lot of slop in where the center link connects to the steering arms, so it makes it almost as bad or worse than stock. I have the plastic center piece on right now but i'm still useing the aluminum arms (I have broken 1 of the stock arms already). It's cool that I can still use them and I'll get the DP link eventually.
