Default first brushless system?

What does everyone recommend for a first brushless system? I have an 18t and I don't know which system to get, tekin, quark, mambe, ect. It's driven on road mainly, and all I have to do is upgrade to the m.i.p super diffs.

Get the Quark unless the PC programmability of the Mamba interests you.

The quark has smoother acceleration and braking, but the mamba is much higher quality part from my experience (3 dead quarks (out of 5) - 2 with battery lead solder joint failures, 1 bad programming button; 0 dead mambas (out of 3)). The mamba's published specs seem to be more accurate too, from my wattmeter measurements. That said, I still like driving the quarks better... guess you just can't have it both ways.

As a FIRST system, I'd get a mamba. Highly reliable, slightly less expensive, and PC programmable.

I'd have to use my grandparents computer to use the pc programming if I got a mamba, because the disc with the mamba is small and the cd drive on my computer sits sideways.

If you have a regular CD drive, and it's sideways, there should be a little indented spot in the middle for smaller disks. If it's one of those slot drives, I'm not so sure you wanna feed it a small disk...

Quark is nice but i hate programing it.
Mamba is SUPER easy if you use the Castle Link.

I have a lot of experience with the 18 lineup and brushless systems and the most effective we have found is the Mamba 25a ESC and the AON 4900 motor... the AON is ver popular in planes but is a direct bolt in for the 18's. the 4900 AON on the same track, same 2100mah lipo battery against the same car (18R's) the AON will run the same speed because you can gear it to the moon to get the same speed of the mamba 6800 but it runs 20-25* cooler EVERY time..

so if you want a USEABLE brushless system, i recommend the mamba esc and AON 4900 motor...

i really like my tekin 8.0 setup and what my friend did was bought the 8.0 system and then upgraded to the C4 9200 and it is crazy fast.
