Default Just got a Mini-Rodeo buggy. RC18B clone?

I guess this is a clone of the rc18b but I'm not really sure because this is my first hobby grade 1:18. I just ordered a Venom mini modified 370, hoping for a increase in performance and maybe a little less heat. Do you think the stock ESC will handle the fireball? It says its rated at 30amps.

So far I'm going to order:

Associated 10 and 11 tooth pinion for the fireball
Associated blue aluminum drive shaft (to replace the cheap looking plastic stock one.)
Associated RC18t shocks front and rear (blue spring)

the only thing I'm not sure of is the tires and wheels. If I get the trinity hex converter can I run 1/10 scale wheels and tires?

Also thinking about upgrading the diffs with super diffs and replacing the dogbones with the associated blue aluminum ones.

I'm not in the habit of wasting money so any help would be appreciated!

If your refering to whether or not I'm going to replace it with a better one, than yes sir you are correct. I'm thinking blue aluminum. Just hoping the rc18b ones will fit.

lol stock esc is fried...replaced it with a foward/brake TP-M8 that I had laying around... (http://cgi.ebay.com/TP-TP-M8-High-Fr...QQcmdZViewItem)

TP-M8 is:

Smoother than the stock esc.
Seems to put out more juice
gets less hot

but...
1/10 size
braking power may be too much for the 370 stock motor.

plus, under more power, the esc has managed to crack the screw holes on the motor mount.

I keep posting but no one seems to care...oh well, at least this clone car will have some information for the next person who googles "mini-rodeo" like I did.

Hopefully you are starting to figure out why people buy name brand stuff.

Actually, I think it would be smarter to buy one of these for 60, less than half the price of a real 18b, and then hop it up using the extra money you've saved. Theoretically, you should end up with a better car for the same price as a rtr 18b.

that may or may not be the case but you gotta start somewhere i guess. Besides, since this is my first hobby grade 1/18 all of this part breakage is giving me a very steep learning curve. A crash course if you will.

ebay..

I got mine for for $26, but they are housing people with a $35 shipping charge. I was watching like 5 of the same car because with a $35 shipping charge I refused to pay a dime over $30 for the car itself. As luck would have it I won this one for the $26 + $35 for shipping.

haha just saw this also

"Hop Ups & Spare Parts

Because the 18T is 100% compatible with another 1:18 well known Truggy, you find 1000s of spareparts and hop ups anywhere near your location."

I'll post again, just so you don't get yelled at for quintuple posting. :P (JK haha)

You could go brushless for less then the price of a regular rtr 18b.

Of course, that would most likely be stupid, as you would be well into an extra $100 of broken parts after the first week of brushless.

I agree after seeing first hand how the regular brushed version drive train is holding up I'd hate to spend $130 on the brushless version.

also, I've been reading on here for quite some time and now I'm confused...aren't the "outrunner" motors for planes?

Outrunners are high torque, usually slow motors. They are mainly used for planes and helis but can be used in anything, and because smaller motors are usually faster they work fine in 1/18ths, you just need to find one with enough power.

I'm asking because the generally seem to be cheaper than say, the mambas and whatnot.

would a 4200kv be any fun?

how about this? http://cgi.ebay.com/4200kv-Brushless...QQcmdZViewItem

That motor should work fine. It wouldn't be as fast as a mamba 8000kv with stock components, but it will have a lot more torque and longer run time also. If you give it a 3-4s lipo (be careful with your esc..) and gear it right it could be just as fast and a 8k mamba and run cooler too.

gearing is where i'm totally lost. If I get brushless i'll def. get a brushless esc to go with it. I wouldn't even know where to start figuring out gearing. Are there any formulas to use?

I have a new motor mount and a fireball 370 on the way now hopefully it'll be an improvement over stock. Also have a 12t pinion coming along with the motor.

I think stock gearing is something like 14/60 (Pinion Gear/Spur Gear) or something in an 18b. If you had motor with a bunch of torque, you could gear it something like 18/55 and it would be faster.
