RE: new Rc Off road 1/24th scale
hey guys. im new to the forums and came across this discussion. im a fan of electric and nitro micro r/c's 1/14th and smaller. i just got one of these r/cs (truck) from target the moment i saw it and tried it right away when i got home. the chassis is definitely hobby grade with plenty of room for furure upgrades (GPM alloy or graphite parts). i put in a fresh set of rechargeable ni-mh (radioshack) from my xmods and one of my own 9v batt for the receiver since the batteries that it came with were the cheap ones. first impression: slow response. there's a delay in the truck's reaction time. i tested it indoors, just within a few feet from the radio transmitter. 49mhz its'n gonna do it for this r/c. maybe a replacement micro receiver can be modified to be fitted in it. the stock speed is also slow --for now. i plan on uprading it by using some of the atomicmods parts and lipos from my xmods in it. this car has potential just like xmods and similarly enough, they're within the same price range. im sure atomicmods will come up with something for this car (if they haven't already). i'll keep you posted.

Could you get us a video please? I am hoping that once I get the Buggy, I could use the SolidWorks (Paid over a $1000 for this 3D modelling program) program I have on my computer to model all the parts, then find a company to start making them in aluminum.

RE: new Rc Off road 1/24th scale
so i got one
i got the ST. it has a black and yellow paint job and came with some nice chrome rims
i also picked up bearing kit. alum oil shocks. and high speed motor
i took her out bone stock to get a bech mark. damn this thing is slow as **** lol. its built nice tho. the plastic seems nice and strong but still flexible. the throttel feels nice and smooth how ever the the steering is a lil crusty but hey its still propo...
well i went back in side and put the bearings in
2 in each hub
2 in each diff
2 on the drive shaft
def made a big difference in speed. lol if u can all it big lol but i think it adds another 1 or 2 mph of speed
the alum shocks seem real nice. they travel smooth considering the price of 14 bucks . the look real nice. and they have a coil over option so u can adjust them. they also come with 3 sets of springs too. didnt try other springs then the one that come on them.
i havent got around to put the high speed motor in yet. i hope it makes it alot faster. i might also might change the gearing.
ill keep u guys posted
but as is right now with bearings and alum shocks its fun to rip it around my apt. all and all i spent like 90 bucks
50 on the truck
15 on bearings
15 on the alum shocks
13 on the highspeed motor
i also saw saw parts that i could make out of CF too. hmmmm you guys know me and CF

I almost bout the monster truck today but I asked if I could open the package and get a better look at it. And it seemed to me that the first run into a wall or chair leg would bust a nuckle and loose a wheel. To me it seemed like it had alot of play in the wheels kinda like an X-mod.

I think that I going to wait for the "master" series. If you could mod these with lipo and good motors then I would get one and some alloy parts would be nice.

RE: new Rc Off road 1/24th scale
I bought the Fang first and it was pretty cool. I put all of the upgrades on but the bearings really seemed to tighten things up. Right when I started using it, there was a noticeable lag in transmitter control and response. The new motor was def faster and the lack of control was a disaster waiting to happen. Ran the thing right into my pool table leg and snapped off the front left shock tower. Yeah, kinda made me mad. So, I took it all back to Target and traded it in for the Detour. Totally different (at least in my experience). There is no lag in control and it seems to be pretty peppy even with the stock motor. I did put in MiMH though... Plus I don't think it will break as easy. There are slight differences in parts and the body covers the suspension more than the buggy. So far so good...

RE: new Rc Off road 1/24th scale
could this be mambafied maybe?
cuz i want a mamba powered car
except my mlst has had enough diff problems just being stock
and my emaxx won't work with a mamba
and other 18th scale cars are really expensive(compared to this)
and im thinking that because it's so small
it would fly with a mamba
so
those who have one
will a mamba fit?

by the looks of the pics, I think the mamba can may be a tad too long. If the master series comes with a 180 motor, then it may fit... Technically the mamba motor is a 180 can size motor, but a little longer. I'm thinking a 12mm feigao will work better. The real question is can the drivetrain hold up to a brushless motor...

RE: new Rc Off road 1/24th scale
OK I got one of these and I was looking around the net trying to find some extra parts or upgrades and stumbled upon this thread. I just wrote up a quick "Review" on the pro's and con's on a different site so I figured I would let you guys know. You can find it here:
http://www.xmoding.com/showthread.php?t=9696
Basically the thing looks pretty cool and has a much better suspension setup than the XMod truck. I would compare it more to a MiniT but a MiniT is a little more "hobby grade". Also I am yet to find upgraded parts. TowerHobbies and Omnimodels say they carry the parts but both won't have stock until mid-October. However you can buy one series of the vehicles now. The motor is a 130 and is identical to an XMod Gen-1 motor down to the clip used. I took a gen-1 stage 2 Xmod motor (30K RPM) and stuck it into the Radline but it did not really make any performance difference. If you want one of these, wait until you can get bearings, a much better motor and the oil filled shocks. My rear control arm has "popped" off ( it pops on, not screws on, bleh ) enough times to make me want to "take it easy" even though I don't feel like I have done anything "tough" with it yet.
Hope this helps, christmas time would be my guess as to when to purchase one. Otherwise you will just get one, break it, and have to wait for replacement parts to come out.

RE: new Rc Off road 1/24th scale
Hello all,
I have both the buggy and the monster truck. These are definitely worth the money, all things considered. I purchased the base unit for 50 bucks, then spent about 45 more on all the upgrades. After switching all the plastic spacers to actual bearings, upgrading the shocks to the oil filled ones, changing the gear ratio and motors, these things zip pretty good.
My brother and I used to run the alcohol cars as kids, and I think proportionally, these are pretty close. Once you find the right balance in the steering and suspension, and get the knuckles adjusted right, you get flat speed and excellent handling.
I definitely recommed these for the beginner, as the mods were pretty easy to do. Every upgrade possible only took me about 5 hours.
I have some pics of my completed vehicles, and some video clips of some jumps we set up for the truck, if anyone is interested.

RE: new Rc Off road 1/24th scale
well of course there is no comparison, this is 1/24th scale, and you buy it at target. but i have one and it's really fun. i have the buggy and the only draw back is that the front shock tower is really thin and breaks easily, no body to protect it. and i definitely don't think the drive train could withstand a big old motor like the brushless, it uses plastic cvds, or i think that's what they're called, dogbone on one side and universal on the other. and the wheels stay on like a minizilla. i don't know if the gears would stand up either, and the drive shaft is tiny, it's smaller than and xmods. but still i love this car, even though i haven't bought any upgrades. just get the st, so you wont break your front shock tower.
