Default Mamba Competition 1/18 any good?

I just got a Associated 18t that has a hacker brushless in it. I have to say that it's pretty nice but i've always been a fan of Castle Creation brushless. So i was wondering, by switching from what i have to the Competition Mamba am i going to see a HUGE improvement?

You'll see an improvement in speed simply from the Kv bump. The 1/18th size hackers have Kv ranges from 3900-4700. the mamba comp. motor is rated at 6800kv.

Not to say that the mamba comp is a "better" motor... if you compared equal kv hacker/e-flite motors vs mamba motors, they'd be quite similar in efficiency and amp draw.

You'll see more of a jump if you got a 3-cell lipo, and kept the hacker.

No really a big fan of lipo's. Plus i already have a few batteries for my 18T. I'll probably just hit up the Mamba set up anyway. I love there product. Thanks for the quick reply. Joe

Hacker motors are what the pros are winning races with.

I guess you haven't seen the Castle Creations ad in the new issue of RC Car Action.

Castle Creations took 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the RC Pro Series 18th Scale National Champions.

Ist Place: Tim Mohr

2nd Place: Elliot Martinez

3rd Place: Ron Meloni

Yep the 6800k system is great. Yes you will see more speed with the mamba but as said above a 3 cell lipo will give you more speed. CC also has great service.

If i'm going to throw in a Competition Mamba in my 18T, am i going to have to upgrade the diffs? I know in my Stampede i have to re-do the tranny with all metal gears because the mamba 7700 system was eating up all the stock plastic ones.

I don't think so. I always liked the stock rc18t ball diffs. as long as they have the outdrive collars, they are fine. You should however add some extra shims to the diffs. Most run 4 shims on each, but you can run as many as you need... you can get them at tower or most any lhs that stocks AE stuff.
