*UPGRADING* - Question.
Ok, so I bought the team associated mitsubishi and I was told there is some motor out there, I wanna say it's called "Venom" or "MAMBA" and it allows the rc car to go up to abougt 70 mph, what else would I need to upgrade this and what is meant by "hop-up"? If anyone could explain all the upgrades or what you can do with an rc car, please explain. thx.

RE: *UPGRADING* - Question.
Essentially, a "hop up" is anything that replaces a stock part and improves upon it. Example would be replacing your stock nylon a-arms with machined aluminum ones. Not only does it improve the durability of that one part, but it also looks cool[8D]. As for what you can do... well, here's really no limit. If it comes on the car, you can change it like you want to. The problem comes when you try to boost the speed/performance/function of a vehicle. Example would be your mamba motor swap. That motor puts an enormous amount of torque on the pinion and spur gears as well as the gears in the differentials, which can ofter overstress them, causing them to strip or break outright. Metal gears can help with this, but once one part is strong, then something else may be too weak to hold out. Another problem with going that fast is control. If you take a car designed for 25mph and put a motor capable of 60mph in it, you can lose control very easily, if you can even get it to go that fast without crashing. Essentially, your RC car becomes a 1-2 pound bullet. Think about what import tuners do to their cars to make them handle better: new shocks, lowered springs, anti-sway bars, lower profile tires, etc. All of those principals are at work, but in smaller proportions. Hopefully this has been more informative than long winded!

...Mamba 8000 is the fastest. It would ruin your gears though, if you bash it hard, like I did on my mini-t [:@]

I disagree, the C4 9200kv by dynamite is faster.

Yeah , but its really cool to see one of these little cars going that fast . I have an RC18Twhich I run an 11.1v Lipo battery in for speed runs and its ballistic ! I need to get it clocked , I am betting its running in the high 40 mph range , maybe low 50's .....
manufanhawk5 , youre gonna need MIP super diffs and MIP cvd's to go with all that Mamba power , the stock driveline is not up too the task IMO .
You will also need to invest in some LiPo batteries , that stocker wont get you anywhere near 40-50 mph even with the Mamba ...

ummmm...yeah kinda. the higher the kv the more top speed it will have, but you will also get lower run times and run hotter. unless you are after sheer speed, your better off getting a tekin mini rage 5400 kv bl system. Maybe even a 6800 but anything over is useless on a track IMO. As for torq, these cars are so light andthebl motors are so powerful, its not much an issue. adjust it with your gearing.
Anyone else care to elaborate on this?
