Default ammo motor

i want to get the ammo motor, but it seems like everyone is using the 3900. what about the 5100? is the 5100 too much or something? the 5100 is cheaper as well

3900 = http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLWY1&P=7

5100 = http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLWY2&P=7

I have run both thru the mamba 25 (in a Vendetta) and even though the amp draw on the 5100 is higher than the mamba is rated for, it seems to handle it. So far I like the 5100 better. I am running it with 16/45 gear ratio as opposed to 19/45 with the 3900 and I find the low end response is better with the 5100. With the 3900 it would roll with no power on startup and then take off like a bullet after about 1 sec. The 5100 seems much smoother. It has a better power distribution, due to the lower gear ratio and less torque/higher rpm design of the 5100. As long as my mamba doesn't burn out, I am going to stick with the 5100. Both are good motors though.

i have had nothing but troubles with my quarks.. i had 2 of them and didnt like how they gave up the ghost so quickly..

btw i ran a 19/41 with my ammo,, and a 21/45 with my permax.. permax is by far the fastest and most powerful motor i have ran

here is the permax i think it is geared at either 19/45 or 21/45 http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...93510604&hl=en

here is the permax geared at 21/45 http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...66156303&hl=en

here is the ammo 3900 geared at 19/41 (equivalent to 21/45) http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...97563961&hl=en

here is eamedias video of his 3900 ammo in the buggy,, not sure of the gearing http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...arch&plindex=1

ive also noticed the 5100 is smoother compared to the 3900...
for indoor carpet id go with the 3900 geared tall and turned down epa
for a 10th scale dirt track id almost always go with the 5100

its very speed even on the lowest power setting
but still provides excellent accleration after it does its like zoom into its reg speed
because for like 1 second on full throttle it just goes then it like goes
zoom into super fast speeds lol
