That Bug Body looks awesome.I'll bet those tires make the whole thing more stable.I want to get them. First I have to get rid of the pull start.

RE: OFFICIAL CEN MG16 THREAD
Thanks Jatosan, The extenders and tires do make it more stable, but it took away some of the low end power it had before so I'm gonna do Mucks exhaust mod and see if it helps.. If not I think I'll try one of these pipes with the flex header,
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXN380&P=7
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXD495&P=7
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXVPY3&P=FR
they seem short enough to work but they are pretty spendy. I know I saw someone put a Revo pipe on a MG but if I remember correctly it didn't work well with the .15. Has anyone foundTHE pipe that wakes this motor up?

RE: OFFICIAL CEN MG16 THREAD
i still think a CRT.5 pipe would do well on this set up... AE makes a header that i think would work with trimming..

Muck Is this the same pipe? Is it short enough to side mount?

RE: OFFICIAL CEN MG16 THREAD
that is the pipe.
the header you can not use. If you can find a good AE header, make sure you get one that is for pull start, and use a rubber coupler with zip ties i think it will fit. If i remember right the pipe was around 4 inches long. With off set rims or extenders it seemed like it would not get hit when turning.. Don't quote me on this, it has been a few years since i looked at this.
I know the original AE pipe i used really made this truck scream but it looked like crap and all ways hit when wheeling..
You all keep this up and i may have to buy another one to do this mod... LOL

So I bought that pipe but the flex header is still on backorder from Cen. Muck do you have a link forthe AE header? maybe I'll pick one up if they don't cost to much.

RE: OFFICIAL CEN MG16 THREAD
i am at work and do not have a ton of time to look, but here is one
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LX3422&P=7
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXEWP2&P=7
look at those. I will say the CEN gasket for the headers is a really nice thick gasket..

Ruger,I hear what you're saying about coming back to this truck.I have a Jato, an HPISavage and even a Losi mini T but I find myself coming back to this little truck myself. I think it has to do with the size. Big enough for real bashing yet small enough so that you can open it upa little.

RE: OFFICIAL CEN MG16 THREAD
Broke the central dog bone yesterday and have no idea how , I was just running it on the grass no jumping. Unless it happened the last time I was running it and I just didn't notice it .
Anyways it snapped about an inch from the front diff and was 2wd so I took it outand noticed it is pretty thin and flexible about 3mm thick. I think I'll do some measuring when I get the new one an see if I can find a thicker one that will work. Could the wider wheel base be putting to much torque on the thin drive? I would think something else would give before that broke. we'll see I guess if this becomes a problem.

RE: OFFICIAL CEN MG16 THREAD
Try adjusting your slipper a touch looser. The extenders and larger tires on grass might have done it..
i wonder if HPI has a dogbone that will fit.. Nice thing bout Tower Hobbies, they give specs if available...

RE: OFFICIAL CEN MG16 THREAD
grass is a high bight surface and if you landed on the fronts with some resistance from throttle i can see it tweeking it.. The stock tires i found slipped a lot on any surface but reversed made excellent paddles...

RE: OFFICIAL CEN MG16 THREAD
instead of doing the battery mod couldn't you just buy a 6v receiver battery? i am considering buying one of these but would like to know all the necessary mods for general neighborhood operation

RE: OFFICIAL CEN MG16 THREAD
Just picked up one of these myself and i love it. the only thing i do have to say is the parts are hard to find. i am planning on doing some mods but the one thing i deffinently want to do is put sand paddles with new rims on all four tires (since its 4wd) so if anyone could help me that would be great.

RE: OFFICIAL CEN MG16 THREAD
Hey every one, I just get my MG16 and I'm on the process to break in the engine... At this point have a bruised knee, blisters on finger and scrape knuckles but I'm on the tank number 2 of 5
I really like how the small truck looks, Im even start to get worried that my Redcat is going to spend more time on the shelf on the days off than this little one ... the only complain that I have is the PULL START, it's so small that is really hard to get a good grip to pull the cord (that is how I get the bruised knee), I'm looking to the roto start as the first upgrade for this little one before I break something trying to start the truck!!
Later will come the upper arms replacement to help with the camber angle, then tires and rims... and then a thousand more small mods to get the personal style to the MG16.

RE: OFFICIAL CEN MG16 THREAD
At first I also looked for a Roto Start. But the pull start makes the truck easy to get anywhere. Also, with a glow igniter fully charged, it takes me only 2 or 3 pulls to get mine going.
It's been 3 years and the little thing is still a blast to drive!
