RE: WOW CHEAP A123 packs for mini's!
I am updating my thunder power 1010C charger to charge A123's. These cells are not available to the public from A123 just big companies like B&D. My lhs guy is making a charger for us to try and see if it works using the existing A123 charger for thier 2300's (actually 2200's). I kind of got the jist of what he is doing but wont post about it until it is proven.

Here's a good intro to A123 batteries:
http://www.slkelectronics.com/DeWalt/index.htm
And here's a great charger from FMA that does A123 too:

the batteries in the vpx can you exactly make a battery pack out of it and charge it on the charger the vpx batteries came with?

The original a-123 on a mini (9.9v, quark 66A hiding the third battery). This pushed the ammo 3200kv 666watt motor on a 31t pinion.
Great to hear that mini a123 batteries are finally available!
Characteristics - 3.3v nominal. 60c peak, 30c constant discharge.
cutoff is needed, but it can be easily seen, as the discharge is near constant, then drops like a ton of bricks.
I use an eos 5i for them. Atm, that pack is powering my dremel (modded to run off rc packs instead of measly 700mAh packs...)

Wh is watt hours. Watts = Amperage x Voltage so it's about 694mAh. What are you planning on using the battery for? I doubt it will work for anything RC because it won't be able to discharge quick enough for anything high current, unless you are using is as a rx pack.

I ran one pack for 2 charges so far. Waiting for my usb cable to come in for the 1010C. Once it gets here I will run them hard.

Yes! They are awesome! I use my 1010C to charge them now. I ran them in mini-t's, detta's, rc18's, m18t, KMI's...and planes so far. They are the best batteries I ran to date. I ordered another charger so I can charge a couple of packs at once. This time I got the 610C. Both are nice chargers.

I love my 610C. How are you fitting them in the m18t? Your measurements would indicate the pack is 38mm wide, and I have had problems fitting anything wider than 34mms.

Sorry. Should have been more clear. I have the M18T pro. It fits with no problem at all. Not sure how the M18T is configured.

I have about 40 charges on my 2 cell a123 pack charging them with a nimh charger, and the the pack is still running strong, I just shut it off when it reaches 1100 mah, never gets hot and seems to work fine, tons of power/punch

I love people like you
Heres the pros debating on whether charging it as a lipo will be .3 of a volt out etc, and then, theres you, who just hooks it up to a nimh charger and gives it hell!!
Nice work [8D]
