RE: Wind Hobby Ferret 1/16th Electric Buggy
I happened across this thread by chance, and I just bought one of these little buggies off Microcenter last week for $49. I am impressed by what you get for the $.
I wanted to see if it would fit a 1/18 General Lee body I got from a Hitari toy grade car, but it won't (to some semblance of scale, anyway). Regardless, this is a lot of fun for $50 and a great intro to the hobby. I am thinking about picking up the narrower "Zillionaire" on-road body version to try out, even though it's a whopping $100 at this, the only seller that I could find.

Seems like Exceed or another company does not sell the clone of the on-road... Anyway, great thread with lots of tips for this bang-for-the-buck buggy.

RE: Wind Hobby Ferret 1/16th Electric Buggy
Hey all, not sure if anyone is still checking this thread of not, and it's been a while since I posted. But I too recently purchased a buggy from MicroCenter's website. It's not listed as the 'Ferret' model of buggy, but instead listed as 'Trojan'. But I assure you, it's the exact same car, and still listed at the $49 price!
But the best news is this, I finally found a damn reseller of parts for these buggies, IN THE USA!!!!! I contacted the reseller, and they sell the parts specific to the 'micro center toys'. I've been on their website and verified the part numbers and such, and am about to order replacement wheel assemblies from when my son took a high speed turn into a curb shattering the wheel and some parts inside, good job boy!
Anyway, just wanted to pass on the glorius news!
Site is:
http://www.cis-associates.com
When you hit the site, check the middle of the directory under 'micro center toys' and boom bam bang!
Enjoy All!!!!

Okay, just a follow up. I ordered the parts from that website, and got them in speedy time! I just replaced all the broken parts, and me and my son are racing again! So indeed we are in luck with a supplier!!!!! And the total cost was less than $20 including shipping! Thumbs up CIS-Associates!!!!!!!!

Keep in mind, that even though the 'Ferret' model buggy is shown in the item picture, you will actually get the 'Trojan' model buggy, which is exactly the same except for the body color (mine came with a more orange/white paint scheme) which also has a more properly placed antenna hole. The 'Ferret' model's antenna hole was set too far forward and had to be cut slightly unless you didn't mind the jousting position of the antenna.
One other difference I noticed was that the 'Trojan' model plays a sound when powered up, and the controller has a charge input in the base which I assume is for recharging the controller batteries, but it didn't come with an actual wall charger or anything, so don't see the value in that part.
Have Fun!

Looks like the NitroRCX car. I worry that this thing will be just like my Caster car. Parts available at one or two places. Which I just finished reading in earlier pages on this thread. My son's Megatech truck has taken a beating daily for $55. This car looks to be more adjustable with a nice looking steering and suspension though.

RE: Wind Hobby Ferret 1/16th Electric Buggy
OK, so all the links are dead for spare parts for these buggies, I just took mine out of mothballs and charged it up for my 10 yr old kid whos old enough now. Then my 5 year old plows it into a curb and breaks the shock shaft at the threads, (common) anyway. Does the Associated shock rebuild kit that comes with shock rods fit these models? I measured the shock rod and its not 2mm, but its 2.38mm. Does anyone in USA sell spares or compatible parts for this model? Does anyone have a line on 75 mm shocks (like the stockers) or is anyone parting out one. I need at least one stock shock.

RE: Wind Hobby Ferret 1/16th Electric Buggy
Just looked at that site an d Idont see a shock that looks similiar, the one they show looks way too short. Im looking for a 75mm and the one they list looks like the more common 60mm judging by the length of the exposed shock rod to the reservoir. mine look about equal in their extended relaxed state. Iput on some 1/10 shocks and they were almost fully adjusted/compressed just to get them to mount, and way too stiff. Still looking....My "WindHobby Ferrett " has a :China Top Win" labeled body stock. Fixed my dads XTMX-cellerator 1/10 scale stadium truck with a cordless drill motor, (stock 12T motor brush looked like it wore completely down to the copper arm and then wore the arm off!)thing rocks with the drill motor ( Mabuchi/johnson control labeled RS-540RH/SH 4.8-7.2Vmotor, about 7 bucks http://www.mabuchi-motor.co.jp/cgi-b..._ID=rs_540rhsh) but Icant seem to get the slipper clutch tight enough to pull wheelies, slipping on the tightest setting. maybe to the discs are worn...

Did you try the CIS Associates website? You might find the shocks you're looking for there. They're pretty quick with their part shipments too, and fair priced in my opinion.

RE: Wind Hobby Ferret 1/16th Electric Buggy
I just found this buggy in storage, perfect condish! Think I rant it like 5 times and put it up with intentions of hopping it up and ended up getting out of RC for a while.. Will have to read over this thread and hopefully find a place to buy spares. I think this was a kyosho mini inferno clone, would be great if those parts fit cuz they are all over eBay!
